nal, oldest son went veggie in HS. Lasted until he met his bride to be. It was more about cruelty than health. He would eat fish caught by himself and game meat. His hardest choice was between shoes made by children in Vietnam, or made of leather.

Quilter Mom and Judy: The one quilt I saw was done in colors--batiks, I think. I didn't notice the name of the pattern designer, but I'll check when I go back to the shop.

I Googled sudoku quilts. Clever idea. I liked the interactive one where the squares are movable with Velcro on the backs, and you can set up a puzzle for somebody else to solve.

Keith, thanks. I was trying to let Col (and I guess the world, now) know that I turned 48 last Saturday, and I'm sure you were among those who wished me a happy b-day. I probably didn't count the days right for that post, but I was just having some fun with Col. What a great age! She's got a lot of living and loving ahead of her.

CHALKBOARD: Actually, my measuring cups do NOT have mL 'on the other side'! I hold the cups in my left hand, and I get irritated when the metric faces me. So I went out a few years ago and replaced my measuring cups with old ones from antique stores, cups that have standard measurements on BOTH sides! But, yes ... I can dig up a cup with mL ... LOL

Hi Col. Happy birthday and I hope the next 40 are even better than the previous 40.

I can enjoy most vegetables if they're appropriately cooked, but I've never come across a way of cooking okra that can make it anything but slime. I've been unable to stomach tripe since childhood, when my mother cooked it in a white sauce - yuk!! In fact, if you'll pardon the pun, I find that most offal tastes offal. I dislike anything very salty or slimy.

bert, what a great age, indeed. Wish I could remember it. Well, I guess I do...seems like it was fun, it just seems that the present keeps tromping all over the past.
