For the top of the page I'll say, respectfully, that I don't feel as strongly sympathetic as Jim does for the insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and rodents that outdoor cats (and indoor cats) occasionally prey upon. That said, I see too many cats suffering from being turned out to fend on their own because owners will not be responsible to keep cat populations (and dog populations) under control. We adopted one such cat, rescued as a barely weaned kitten from a coyote filled field, and she now lives indoors More...

I admire people like Vici who dedicate themselves to taking responsibility for cats that need care and homes. As I think through all the cats I've ever had, we rescued 7, adopted 4 and placed 6 in good homes. All, to my knowledge, were eventually spayed or neutered. It's hard for me to imagine More...

As Judy implies, it's not a good thing for a bloke to be out gardening naked in the cold weather. I wouldn't know if I was Arthur or Martha.

I wonder how Judy knows about this - observation maybe?

We have a an event here called Dark Mofo and a fellow called Hermann Nitsch intends to put on a performance involving a dead bull, it's entrails and 500 litres of blood. All in the name of art....bloody sick if you ask me (No pun intended).

I do not like the cold at all,
I do not like the frosts of fall,
I do not like the chill of spring,
In winter I hate everything.

Dull old day here in Hobart - coming into winter so to be expected, I suppose.

You are still a few short of 66, so i'd better get 'on the wallaby', a phrase that was frequently used by an old friend of mine.

Robed or naked, doesn't matter.
When my teeth begin to chatter,
When my feet are blocks of ice,
Being cold is never nice.

Apparently the term derived from the Great Depression when unemployed people were roaming the countryside looking for work. They would often offer to cut firewood or some such in exchange for food. They were called tramps, they would be called hoboes in the US.

I'm actually hungry and thirsty but my 'staff' is all sleeping. So I'll have to hobble over to the kitchen on my crutches and try to fend for myself. (cue tragic violin music).

And I need to recharge this tablet. I don't think it will last to p 3. Have fun, gentlemen.
