Oh, Shosho, Thing II and I are enjoying our time together. We now have pretty pink toes and fingers, and every baby doll in the house has had at least two change of clothes, fed, cuddle and is now put to bed. Which by the sounds of things, Thing II needs to be going.

Thanks June, Gail and all the others who wished me well. My problem was that I had two full anaesthetics in the space of a couple of days - colonoscopy on Monday and pacemaker on Wednesday - and it knocked me around a bit. I had expected to recover fairly quickly but it was not to be. You might More...

I would sure like to open my mail and get a $00.00 bill. I'll sacrifice myself and take that late arriving Champagne off your hands Karen....gorgeously sunny afternoon but the clouds are building on the Front Range ridge.

So found out yesterday that I won a kayak. Had no idea how it happened until honey started laughing..he filled out my name on some card when he was entertaining clients at a brewpub. Problem: local podunk tiny lake has banned all craft for fear of zebra mussels. We can't even let the kids have the More...

They're an invasive species, Kathy, but I think that the powers-that-be have gone a bit overboard. No inflatable rafts???

Have fun at the baseball game, but watch out for the bats.

A zebra mussel's muscles are very strong Kathy. Apparently they can pull small watercraft under water with ease. Then they suck all the juices out of whatever living thing was in the boat.

Hey, things were going rather slowly... And I thought I'd liven the place up.

Good grief, never in my life have I ever heard of zebra mussels and you all are talking about it is a normal thing, scary thing though. Off to look up what this creature is.

Oh for goodness sake, HalT! It's just a small invasive exotic! You're talking about a Dracula vampiric species that would scare even Heidi and Capt J away!!! Hmmm should add Jerry and Sarah Beth into the mix too. All used to any kind of animals!

1:53 I'm now off to the shops to get some zebra mussel repellant. Now will I find it next to the mozzie repellant or in the fishing section?

My image was of Shannon in the middle of a lake, in her raft, deflated like a blow up doll.

The problem with Zebra mussels is that they rapidly multiply and take over the native species. They are spread by people getting them on their watercraft in one lake and then going to another lake. This is where the few make it bad for the most of us. All it takes is one person too lazy to check their craft for these parasites, and they are spread.

I slept for about 2.5 hours this afternoon, once I got to sleep. I'm not sure I feel better, I'm not yet awake. My headache appears to be gone, but my body still aches.

If you can try to go for a walk. I find my whole body starts to wake up with exercise. In fact that's how I prep up for a day with school kids. I become just as hyper as they!!!

That is a good idea Shosho. It is a Catch 22 with fibro that your brain tries to tell you you don't want to do what is best for your body. And it has cooled down enough...finally...that I may try that after supper.

Little known factoid:
Although Zebra mussels have the ability to remove a large portion of the plankton and dissolved nutrients within the water, and this increases the clarity of the water, it changes the food web that the native freshwater mussels and other organisms need to survive. This More...

Blow up doll???? And no remarks from Capt J about implants or some such? I like Hal's explanation...but Heidi and Sarah Beth are right on. Instead of proper education or procedures, it's just easier to over re-act and ban everything rather than take action-appropriate steps. I don't think the mussels have been reported anywhere around here and this 'lake' is smaller than a football field

BTW, Zebra mussels are NOT to be confused with Ahnold muscles which are known to deteriorate over time even though, they, too, are known to be affiliated with ramapant and unbiased procreation.

Blow-up doll? Sorry, Shannon, but ever since I saw "Airplane" the image of Otto pops into my head at the mere mention of said dolls. Hence, I remain comment-less.
