It s pretty hot here in Canberra too, round about 100 degrees fahrenheit but it is just creepy up to 10am so there is plenty of time to go. Take it easy folks, you shouldn't have any reason to venture out.
Time to turn the page.

I'll have to be less verbose if I want to race Keith to key numbers, like 44.

Yay, I did it. I've just had a phone call from one of my daughters, so I'll be surprised if I can continue a run.

My daughter is coming round to visit this afternoon, so we kept the conversation short. My son and his wife visited yesterday and we caught up with what has been happening. They are great travellers and spent quite a lot of time over seas last year, including some time in Iceland.

My son's daughter visited last Tuesday.coming down from Brisbane for the occasion. She has just successfully completed first year of a medical degree and seems to be doing extremely well. She is planning to spend a semester overseas next year, probably in Scandinavia.

He must be recovering, huh, Peter? Just a while ago he was struggling - so 3 cheers, Wombat, for your return in FULL force

Still well below freezing here, with the wind chill taking us down to at least -18 Fahrenheit tonight - only a couple of degrees 'warmer' in the mountains where I grew up.
The only upside is that the lack of tourists (who, not realizing that walking here is the equivalent of driving elsewhere, More...

Wolf, sometimes there is more snow in and around Boston, Massachusetts, than in the Great Lakes areas. It has a very very big 'lake' that never freezes for 'lake effect' snow!

But snow in the East tends to melt sooner, doesn't usually linger along the sides of the roads all winter as it does in the midwest. I remember walking to school in Cleveland between two big berms of snow so high that the youngest children could not been seen from the house or road.

Wow, Renee, You took a trip down Memory Lane and managed to invite us along with the good storytelling. Was the black ice in heels incident recently in NYC? I'm glad you and your friends are all okay.

Went to my grand-nephew's 5th birthday party today. 5 year olds can be very cute but in a pack of between 15 and 20, they're overwhelming.
