A nice scene! Perhaps a bit repetitive :-) but the size of the field is a key component of the picture.
How tall would these sunflowers be? Anyone?

maen all! the fargo area of north dakota is the largest sunflower producing area in the u.s. the hybrid they grow for seed,feed and oil is only about 4 feet tall unlike ornamentals which can be over 8 feet with discs over 1 foot.

I wonder how they keep the birds out of the seeds until they are harvested.

Off to a 4-H goat meeting. City parade is tomorrow; we're riding in the Library's summer reading program float: Catch the Summer Reading Bug. Have tie dyed shirts and candy to pass out. Then we're painting a mural on Saturday with my nephew. Busy weekend. Happy Father's Day, all.

We'll be wearing the tie dyed shirts and passing out the candy. Sorry, no free wardrobe handouts this parade, so don't ask for the shirts off our backs! I'll save you all a piece of candy if you wave and tell me what you'll be reading this summer (or winter, as the case may be ...).

The last sunflowers I saw were in Spain, Sue's photo the other day!

I have one very lonly, cold sunflower growing in my garden. It came up as a weed from the stable manure I use, & I didn't have the heart to pull it out. I have been rewarded with a touch of yellow in my otherwise drab winter garden. I can't help but smile every time I see it. I think it won 'Garden Survivor' this year!

We certainly are not in Kansas anymore - we are in Oxfordshire UK. It is one of my shots from a year or so back.
