Chris, I agree, it's a nice photo and they're not easy subjects.

Agree with Ian (and Chris). With butterflies you need a bit of luck and patience. One of the few shots I'm happy with was on a butterly basking on a flower. Too bad, it's only on print (10+ years ago) :-(

A sight to lift the spirits! We are housebound today by a snowstorm which has robed the area in white. A beautiful scene, but certainly not colorful. Thanks to the butterfly photographer!

Good shot Sue!
You chased this butterfly for over an hour. And if you'd try to give her the print of this picture it would take even longer

Lovely shot, Sue! A quick check of Google Images suggests it's a Pipevine Swallowtail, Battus philenor. Sorry, am an ecologist and couldn't resist the challenge of identifying it. I found it on answers(dot)com.

Great photo, Sue! I don't see nearly as many butterflies as when I was a kid at my grandparents' house. They had an ecological haven for all sorts of flora and fauna in the middle of the Texas Panhandle. There were always butterflies, hummingbirds, birds of all kinds for that matter, and various woodland-type creatures to watch come and go.

This hard is definitely hard... took me so long to finish. Although, the photo is a repeat, nevertheless, butterflies are fascinating and worth a repeat.
