9:59. This photo includes the start and finish lines for a half marathon I ran around 18 months ago - it started just to the left of the bridge pilon in this photo and finished just the other side of the opera house (with lots of running between!)

Looks like the photo was taken from the ferris wheel.

It's amazing what looking at a familiar topic through new eyes shows! I have been over that bridge so many times & never noticed that the top span isn't connected to the pylon. I thought the twin spans were the strength of the bridge.

Chris, where were you last weekend when they ran the half marathon again, over the same course?? Or was once enough!!

Hi Bluey, different course but no, I didn't run it. There were two half marathons I would have liked to have run on the weekend, that one in Sydney and one in Canberra but family committments meant I couldn't run at all over the weekend. The one over the harbour bridge finishing at the opera house will be run again in Sydney in September this year, and I plan to be there.

deltz - was the roller coaster at Coney Island the oldest one over there still remaining? I remember going on a wooden one at Coney Island, shook me so hard my jewellry fell off into the ether!! A great ride nonetheless...Such a giggle.
