I've got a teacup with a pattern of the same name. I wonder if it was named after this place???

Except mine was Cliveden. Same or not?

Yep! I "Googled" it. It is Cliveden & it's a beauty! Tuscany style house set in 376 acres of protected woodlands in Taplow, Berkshire, England, near Windsor. It is now a hotel. You can STAY there! Rates start at 225 pounds/$434. Nice place, huh?!

"Hello, there. Fancy a bit of skinny-dippin' with me?" (Not me, Judy. The lady at the top of the fountain.)

An enjoyable stroll in an English country garden.
And yes I should have checked my spelling of Cliveden before I submitted.

Judy, isn't it awful the way men toy with us? They take us right to the brink and then ... PFFFT. Once again, we're left to skinny-dip alone.

Actually, Cathy, that's never happened to me. It must be something that just happens to you. Have you ever asked your therapist about it? He he ... gotcha!

Yeah, but isn't the journey a lot of fun?

It is Cliveden (pronounced Cliff-den) Overlooking the Thames. Famous for lots of things, not least of which was Profumo. Lovely place and correctly pointed out as a National Trust property so, NT members can visit for free. Mind the steps down to the river though (175 as I recall) The house is open More...

As I recall too, the fountain is sculpted out of one solid bit of marble

I'd check that it is summer before skinny dipping! Which day does summer fall on this year?

Not at all my style. Plus it attracts the strangest kinds of naked people ...

Grass-hopper, Speaking of temperatures, it's barely any warmer here in the Midwestern US than it is in Brisbane (says weather.com). I wanna know what day summer falls this year for us.

Sigh! OK, summer started on June 21 in the US and Canada. Not absolutely sure, but I think winter began on Jun 22 in the Australia.

Our seasons always start on the first of a month HalT. 1 December for Summer, 1 March for Fall, 1 June for Winter etc. (I think I've got the right months). Why use nature to determine when your seasons start when you can use a calendar???

Well, Suzy, before I comment on that, I'd like to hear from some more of you compatriots. Anyone??

Plum, we already had our day of summer (it was almost a week long) a couple of weeks ago. Near 90, wasn't it? I know we took the kids to the pool more than once that week. Maybe we'll get lucky and have another day of summer before fall...

Hi All
Suzy is right. In Oz, winter starts on 1st June. I've never quite worked out why there is a different system in the Northern & Southern Hemispheres. Perhaps it has something to do with the old saying. As the days get longer, the winds get stronger. If we had to wait till 21st September for Spring most of the spring flowers would already be out and dead.

16.31 bit slow ... well i've had a long day All I can say is on the first day of March or thereabouts you no longer feel like sunbaking over here, Autumn arrives loud and clear. Mind you a mini-heatwave arrives about a week or two later and tempts you back in for a dip (skinny or not!)
