Hi DanM!

I am a frog and toad surveyist for the Lower Rouge River in the Detroit area. It is my 2nd job, and I don't get paid....I just listen for the different frogs in my 2 sections and report it. We are checking to see if frogs live, then their food and predators live so we know we aren't wrecking the environment. Sort of like sending in the canary to check coal mines in the old days!

I was thinking that listening would be the only way to tell it was a frog pond from that distance... & then I read Cathy's post! Must be an interesting & pleasant job, Cathy! I am very glad someone is watching out for them!

Cathy ... With most of the auto industry now gone from Detroit, I'll bet that the Rouge is a lot healthier than it was in the past! Is that true?

I didn't know that most of the auto industry was gone from Detroit!!!! There are cutbacks, but we are having more come here, like Toyota, Kia, and Hyundai R&D.

Are those automobile companies, Cathy?

GOOD FOR YOU, Cathy. I'm glad somebody is watching out for the frogs. I agree that they're the ones who suffer first from man's destruction of the natural environment.

Now... why didn't they try to get some frogs in the picture?

maen all! hey,cathy,my sis lives in novi and her hubby is bearing engineer. things are real tough she tells me. he's ready to retire and there is no way they can sell their property. they did get a great deal on retirement place in central kentucky, though.

Hi all! Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden is in the northern suburbs of Sydney. I didn't see a frog that day - but the next day I went it was raining. Then I saw frogs!
