Kathy - thanks for the info! So I was right that the Chinese year isn't the same as the western calendar year (Gregorian). But how is the date of the Chinese New Year determined? (If it's too complicated, maybe I just need to go to Wikipedia or someplace like that ...)

Wikipedia gives the full range of dates plus the elements that go with each year. For example we have fire horses and water horses in our family. BTW Chinese New Year is never in March.
