Good Morning, it's November 1.November 1 is the 305th day of the year (306th in leap years) in the Gregorian Calendar, with 60 days remaining.
On this day in 1960 While campaigning for President of the United States, John F. Kennedy announces his idea of the Peace Corps.

that was good - but I although hate to appear ungrateful....is it a repeat?

Jim in Mississippi, it can't be Nov 1, I just woke up on the 31st, and we are in the same country. Please don't rush me so! I'm still enjoying Oct, Nov - see ya tomorrow.

Great picture, very dramatic sky, just right for Halloween.

I always heard Mississippi was behind the times, I didn't realize they were a day ahead.

A lady worked for an orthopedic surgeon that was moving to a new office, and his staff was helping transport many of the items.

She sat the display skeleton in the front of her car, his bony More...

3:01 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

How beautiful it is to do nothing and then rest afterwards.

started off with tough & worked my way back to easy. I enjoyed all the pictures today. The photographer of this one has a keen eye. Good job.

Leave it to this site to connect things for me inside my head. Yesterday's discussion about Armistice Day did that for me. Thank you Judy from Bendigo for bringing back childhood memories of the red poppy that some older men would wear in their lapel...I didn't really know why...just some war More...

What do you get when you cross a vampire and a snowman?

Why do witches use brooms to fly on?

2:45. Happy Halloween. According to our forecast it is suppose to rain here so I may try and convince Elijah to skip the trick or treating and go straight to the church party. Wish me luck.

Sounds strange???? skip the trick or treating and go straight to the church party?

I was brought up to believe that 'Halloween' was evil. We don't have it here in Aus and nobody came around for treats or with tricks.

Can somebody explain to me what is 'Halloween' exactly?????

Tonight is the night of Nicole's baby shower (Blessingway). I have 19 women arriving here at 6-30pm and I am quite excited about it all. Lots of different women from all walks of life and ages from 20 - 80. Wish me luck!!!!

Deb from Brisbane here is my incomplete explanation. I don't know how Halloween started. Around here kids traditionally dress up in any kind of costume (my son's a dragon), go door to door and say trick-or-treat. The treat part is when people put candy (usually) in their bags. The trick part is More...

Gotta work this evening, so no trick-or-treats to be handed out at my house tonight. Grunt will be off at his friend's party, and Hubby will not turn on the porch light...

5:24 Halloween is Holy Eve. The day or night before All Saints Day. A Holy day of obligation for Catholics around the world. That is the day we pray for all the saints who went to Heaven before us. 11/2 is All souls day. November is a month dedicated to praying for all of our deceased loved ones. More...

The photo is not of a run down shack, it is of a famous cloud formation that only appears in two places in the world, the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Carpentaria. It was taken in Burketown on the Gulf of Carpentaria (do a google on it) and the cloud formation is a long (from horizon to horizon) More...

Deb: Halloween superceded Samhain (Sowan)as a Celtic festival.
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween
sorry to refer to a website (some people seem touchy about that) it has a more detailed explanation.

Somehow Halloween has become a holiday for Satanist. They have seances and try to conjour up evil spirits.
 |  |
Forgot to mention, the cloud formation is known as a Morning Glory around these parts. Now THAT's interesting!
 |  |
Sorry to have to correct you Nina but Halloween is a direct line decendant of 'All Hallows eve' or the night of the dead that was celebrated by the druids in Europe, there are many satanistic and coven celebrations that still take place on Halloween but for the most part, like every other holiday More...

Samhain (Sowan) is the name for November in Gaelic.

Nina: 31st Sept is all souls day. Hence the ghost and ghoul ref's. 1st Nov is all saints day.
