Playgirl rejection letter...

Dear Sir:

Thank you for your recent letter and Polaroid photograph which we have just received. We regret to inform you, however, that we will not be able to use you as our PLAYGIRL'S "MAN of the MONTH" centerfold.

Good Maen to all.

Things have finally settled down in our household after all the Thanksgiving visiting and feasting. Fortunately the weather was decent, which was a relief after days of snowstorms - and our power stayed on so we were able to cook our Thanksgiving meal in the traditional manner.

Now Jim, play nice. I could have posted that as a dear jim letter...

Hey, Jerry. It was a worrisome situation. Our power was out for three days. Tinder and sticks, or trying to keep the BBQ warm enough to cook a 21 lb turkey seemed like it was going to make this a Thanksgiving to remember. Fortunately we got our electricity restored just in time!

Yikes, Linda! That would, indeed, have been a Thanksgiving to remember!
At least you could be assured that your turkey was thawed!

It takes three days in the garage to thaw a turkey. Mine is still in the freezer. Thank God for children who cook.

HI all! Jerry, you've got some good music there and I would love to dance but my feet at killing me...another time? Yesterday's riddle answer was 'time on my side' and those who found it were Colo Jim, CG, Phantom, Kathy and the lurker. Kathy seemed a bit stoned and admitted to being so; I'd give her a wide berth on the dance floor.

Linda, seeing the "Pioneer" in your name reminds me of the countless women who cooked their entire lives without electricity, and one needn't even go back 4 generations to find them. If that doesn't make a person count her blessings (said over an electronic communication system), nothing will.

The "pot" calling the kettle black, are we? Everyone should know that Fiona has never heard the ending of the Stones song because she is "out of it by then".

The first time I was married (in the late 40s), we moved to Colorado Springs, where we lived in three apartments, none of which had all the comforts of an 1890 Victorian in San Francisco. No indoor potties! No running water! Coal stoves. I my mother did not teach me to cook, ever on a gas stove.

Wow, Dorthea. I sometimes try cooking on our wood stoves when the electricity is out. It's quite the adjustment. Plus, when our electric is out, our well pump doesn't work, so no water and no flushing toilets (unless we haul pond water or melt snow to do it). But at least the potties are indoors.

My Grandparents (dad’s side) lived at the bottom of a canyon in central Oregon for about 40 years. They operated a pumping plant to supply water to the folks up on the rim. When they retired and left, in the early ‘60’s, they still didn’t have electricity or telephone. Grandma cooked on a wood More...

One other "at least". You have an alternate source of water.

My Washougal place has a spring for water. If I have to carry it, it is about 200yds uphill. Not fun, but hey, that's country living...

Where do you folks get all the energy to dance so much in the morning? I think Jerry must lace that coffee with Baileys. And for a few of the rest of you, I can certainly see you dancing while waiting for someone to vacate the bathroom!
