A long morning, afternoon. We often forget the folks left behind when we remember our lost ones in war. The parents, siblings, wives and children. In many countries, the military wives have formed groups and choirs for companionship and support. The one going here in Ottawa is 65 members strong. 12/Nov/14 8:40 AM |  |
Please take the time to listen to a military wives choir in England, singing a song written from the words in letters sent to their soldiers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQ7f4lV3e0c 12/Nov/14 8:42 AM |  |
 Good Morning. 12/Nov/14 11:37 AM |  |
Greg, you are right about the folks left behind after a soldier is killed. 12/Nov/14 11:38 AM |  |
I am very glad that there is a great deal of support for widows and families these days. 12/Nov/14 11:39 AM |  |
Because when Mr P's father was killed early in the Vietnam war, there was no support for then. 12/Nov/14 11:40 AM |  |
The public as a whole did not treat the Vietnam vets with the same respect, but should have. Whatever reasons for the war and whether or not we agree with a particular war, they laid their lives on the line. That's true today, yesterday, and tomorrow. to vets and their families. Take time to thank a vet or an active soldier. 12/Nov/14 11:44 AM |  |
Mrs P senior was left with 4 children to comfort and raise. They had emigrated from England a few years before, so there was no family to support her. Their two best army family friends had just been posted away from where the P's lived - and so on. Legacy stepped in to help, but overall it was not good. Mrs P never recovered and passed away 30 years later in a very sad state. 12/Nov/14 11:46 AM |  |
 Does someone own a Venezuelan travel agency? 12/Nov/14 12:25 PM |  |
Good question, Saylz! -that might explain the source for these exceptionally picturesque photos with which we've been rewarded recently. 12/Nov/14 1:15 PM |  |
Everybody. I also want to thank all the veterans and their families for their service and keeping us free. 12/Nov/14 3:49 PM |  |
