Inside each set of the following words, there is a pair of smaller words. By putting & between them, lo & behold, you'll make a familiar phrase. For example, "Thighbone/Swallowtail" conceals More...

Have been busy looking for shooting stars - August is the best month of the year to see them here - we counted ten in fifteen mins - not bad for a wish or two!

thing one and thing two - I've called my kids that for years, but maybe Judy and Kathy could be renamed!

Just sent my answers in, Fiona. I love looking for shooting stars. If we ever get a cloud-free evening, I'll head out to the beach to stargaze.

Obviously Judy and Kathy won't be answering as they're still on Pluvia and there was no computer on their list of things to take.

No Perseids here I'm afraid but we do have a nice long deluge of rain (not Gilgameshian), clouds and general apathy from the UK. Excuse my ignorance but what on earth is Pluvia? Rainy roads? Are we talking ablative singulars?
13/Aug/09 7:25 AM
 |  |

André, quite simply Pluvia is not on earth - it's where we're trying to banish Judy and Kathy under pretext of a space mission!

Fiona, I am glad you are back. I do not always get to do your puzzles but I do understand them better. I did get a couple of Kathy's ones done and I do thank Kathy for keeping them going while you were away.

Good maeN all. Fiona, when we lived in California, we enjoyed laying on our backs on our lawn and looking at the shooting stars, too.

Fiona, I agree, I too understand your puzzles better than Kathy's. I guess my abstract math skills aren't aren't very good. But I still haven't figured out where to go to answer the puzzles .

Two times in one day. I am in shock. My arms and hands are empty again. I must be missing something. I did check and both girls did make it back home with me, did not leave them in town.

Hi Karen. No . Garrett is as stubborn as his mom is ! For 3 weeks now she has been 40% effaced but "0" cm dialated! No change at all. Tomorrow at 9pm (yes at night) SaraLyn will be admitted to the hospital and the doctor will insert a bulb catheter to try and get her cervix to start dialating. They say it may take 2 or 3 days.
13/Aug/09 11:05 AM
 |  |
Poor Garrett, he dropped 3 weeks ago and his head seems to have run up against a road block..or a wall...or a cervix block or something. I hope he isn'tscarred for life with a flat head !
13/Aug/09 11:14 AM
 |  |

More information than I needed, LynDee!!!! It doesn't sound comfortable for the mom at all.
13/Aug/09 11:15 AM
 |  |
Sorry Jamie, and you are right about the comfort aspect.

Victoria from Fernlands and Gair from Cockatoo who have both guessed the due date as the 14th, I was going to say you are the only 2 left, but I just noticed that Tami the Troublemaker has added her guess for the 15th. Tasha (our older daughter) would love that, it's her birthday.
13/Aug/09 11:28 AM
 |  |
Karen, have you found something else to do with your hands yet?
13/Aug/09 11:35 AM
 |  |

Sorry LynnDee, I did find something to do with my hands. They put food into my mouth. I had an uninterrupted dinner. Was able to eat the entire sandwich while it was still warm. I have not had a warm meal in such a long time.
Granted, we are experiencing 102+ degree weather these days, so cold meals have not been complained about.
13/Aug/09 11:46 AM
 |  |

Poor SaraLynn, I would have had to hurt someone if I had gone all the way to the predicted due date.
13/Aug/09 11:47 AM
 |  |

No problem, really, LynnDee. I have worked with women pretty much my whole career, so I long ago learned to ignore what I needed to!!
13/Aug/09 11:51 AM
 |  |

LynnDee - SaraLyn has my sympathy. I was 7 days late with my second child and begged, cried and pleaded until the doc put me in hospital and induced me.
13/Aug/09 12:05 PM
 |  |
It's SaraLyn's first and she has really enjoyed her pregnancy and said it has gone by too fast! But since her sister is in the Navy and will be shipping out in less than a week, she wants him to hurry up. It really hasn't been painful at all...yet! She is just getting anxious now since her due dat was the 11th.
13/Aug/09 12:13 PM
 |  |
CynB, the doctor says she will induce her , but has to wait until she dialates at least 4 or 5 cm. Now we just have to figure out how to get her there.

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes. I will reply individually this evening when I get home from work.

She tried most everything that cp suggested to get things going...well except sex. The baby's father is out of the picture and across the country. She doesn't have any significant other right now, but several of her friends said they would be willing to help her out...just to induce labor ...she thanked them and said no way!

I liked being pregnant. According to the doctor I only had slight discomfort.
He was a male doctor.
