Dave--hmmm, maybe Gath didn't want to crawl out of bed to get us our tough!?? (Good for you Gath!!) Yes, I am able to pop in and out every now and then, especially right now since we are in training and do breaks frequently. How are things with you?

Sorry guys. Truth is Gath is still out and hasn't come home to fix it. He SAID he'd be home by 3am. It is now 4am....in the meantime, LOL, Google is confused and thinks this site may be about moose and elk hence the advertisement above Lady Sudoku for moose taxidermy and antler lighting.
 |  |
Kym, sorry about mis-spelling your name! Hope all is okay with Gath and he isn't working this late at night!! Thanks for keeping track of us :)

Not mad at all. Just having some fun. Linda is still in bed. She is like CeeCee. Up late, sleeps late.......

Time on hard was 22:04, Beat that, easily! Baaaaad day for timing.

I gave up...I just can't seem to get it. Can't believe Amber's 7:35...How does she do it??????
 |  |
I finally turned off the 'allow wrong moves' button and got it. Off to fold church bulletins then lunch, might be back later, if not have a great weekend everybody!
 |  |
Dave, Don't ever give up. I found the site was an easy way to help me learn. I find I am faster on paper because I don't have to do so much with the mouse. I don't time because I just like the feeling of accomplishment, not competition.

Yesterday you asked about a chocolate quote. I think the one you are referring to is: 'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, red wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ 'WOO HOO what a ride!'

I love to read and enjoy hearing what others read. For many years it has been my practice to get up early and spend the first 30 minutes of my day with a cup of coffee and a book. We had a book 'discussion' a couple of months ago on this site, but I don't remember exactly when or what it was that people were reading. This time, I'll take notes.
 |  |
Dave, it took me two tries (and two cups of coffee, followed by two cups of hot chocolate and a cadbury egg)

TOUGH IS UP. MAY BE A RARE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO BE FIRST!!!
 |  |
LP - I have heard that before but always enjoy it again, Thanks.
LK - Maybe talk later.
Jeanette - Thanx for the encouragement. I just get frustrated sometimes when I sit there for a long time and don't see what to do next and just keep going thru the numbers. You are absolutely correct More...

You know I was just giving you a ration of s**t. I am not questioning your time but thanks for clarifying.
I have to give up the computer to my wife. Talk later....

Sleep Late? I was up at 0730 this morning after being up 'til 3am! Sleep deprived and silly I am today.
 |  |

 |  |
3:53... Did you mean swell day???? How bout this weather. Not a good day for golf.

LP, is that the Pioneer on the north fork of Moke River? For some reason I thought it was Pioneer Pt. in south CA. Angels Camp to Desolation Valley were my old stomping grounds back in the day. Prettiest places on earth. Lots of memories on the Moke.

jcv you should read the comments before posting, as the answer to your question (moose elk or caribou) has been dicussed at length. Thank you Dave for the excellent description of antler physiology and sub-specie identification. Elk were once found in much of the United States but now are mostly restricted to the western mountains.

2:15 fasstest time ever---yeah

Yep.. North Fork of the Mokelumne River!! It is amazing what a small world this really is. First Dave knows Pioneer from having been to the St. George in Volcano, now you tell me the Desolation Valley was your stomping grounds. We feel so blessed to live here. The area is really growing (as in More...

3.17 - but felt a lot slower
 |  |
What brought you to Angels Camp/Desolation Valley? Are you native to the area? Did you work there? Maybe USFS or CDF?
 |  |
I was born in Sacramento and lived in northern CA until my mid 20's. My best friend lives right near you in Somerset. Spent most of my teens and early 20's hiking the area. I really miss the mountains.

Its hard to be first when ur competing with more than 100 people

LP - My 12 year old asked for a book, I bought it, she now desperately wants the sequel. After hearing how much she loved it, and at her insistence, I am now reading it. It's called Wolf Brother by Dianne Pavers. I think that's right. It's in a room with sleeping people so I can't go and check.
 |  |
2nd day trying this, 7:27 is that good for beginner?
 |  |
That is definitely an elk! Saw thousands of them when I lived in Idaho, along with deer (in Utah would see hundreds of those!) and moose in Yellowstone.
 |  |
4:48
Something similar to that beast eats all our roses.
 |  |
These are silly things to be working on but i like them.
 |  |
These things are soo fun!!! :)
 |  |
I remember reading Clan of the Cave Bear (I think that's the right name) years ago. Is Wolf Brother anything like it, except that Wolf Brother is for youngsters?
