G'day mates, here's today's daffynition:
Skeleton: n. A collection of bones with the person scraped off.

...And here's today's factoid:
Bird droppings are the chief export of Nauru, an island nation in the

western Pacific.

And lastly, but most importantly - sending good wishes to Karen's Morgan for

a successful outcome in her medical test.

Hi everyone. I know I don't stop here often but I just had to today. m

Mamacita is home and doing better. Don't know if she posted here yesterday but I spoke with her daughter last night. Her granddaughter is going to stay with her for a week or so. Keep the prayers coming. She is home, but not a strong as she used to be. I think just being home will really help her.

Good Maen, all! Lots of correct answers to PICTURE PUZZLE #16. The gizmos pictured are “glazing points” (the thingies that attach the mounting board to a picture frame, sandwiching the painting between the glass and the mounting board).

I figured Shiela would recognize them (and she did) More...

Looks like it will be another hot day, some where near 100 again. At least it shouldn't be over 100 those days are horrible.

Jaime and I both spent too much time in the ocean yesterday. Our sunblock wore off and we got burned - not too badly, but we won't be going back for a couple of days! We did catch some crabs, though, which we will enjoy at lunch today!

everyone!

You need to keep re-applying that stuff, Jane!

I am so happy to hear Ouima is home.
Rest and recover, Mama! Come here when you feel up to it. You have been missed!

Whoa! Kathy, you pushed me into Keith's spot!
14/Jul/12 1:25 AM

Oh, I know, Kathy, but our new crab-catching system makes it difficult to reapply sunscreen. We float our crab pots while we're swimming (or floating on our rafts), and so every few minutes we swim over to check/unload them. We basically never leave the ocean while we're crabbing, so we don't get More...

Went for a run this morning and guess what! Felt rain drops! The world is coming to an end. It's raining in southern California! During our dry season no less! No wonder we had this strange mugginess in the afternoon this week!
14/Jul/12 1:38 AM

Jane, either that or start wearing a sunscreen shirt while you're swimming! Or those lightweight scuba suits that the surfers out here wear in the mornings.

BTW could you cook one for me???

Wonderful daffynition and factoid, Kayo. Especially the factoid. In case anybody here didn't know, those bird droppings are called GUANO. A great fertilizer.

The answers to yesterday's poozle: 1. fuse/seam 2. edge/gear 3. ditch/church 4. just/steam 5. range/geese 6. divide/debt 7. pier/erupt 8. drove/verse 9. tram/amaze 10. budge/gender

A perfect for Shosho, lonewoof, HalT, CHALKBOARD!!, Heidi, Sarah, Peter, and Mads.

It has been raining here for HOURS!!! The water is sinking nicely into the soil, saving our pastures and hay fields. I'm just hoping that it isn't too late to save the local corn crop. It IS too late to save the local tobacco crop, unfortunately.

All I can think of when I see this picture is the song 'Cement mixer... putee...putee.'

Being a barbaqued corn lover, my fingers are crossed BUT the tobacco I'm not sorry. I remember back when smokers were allowed in the restaurants. Sometimes the smoke would be obnoxiously strong, ruining the dinners.

And for today....

You are working in a lab and you need to prop up a beaker of water so that its base is exactly 17' above the table (don't worry about why). Besides the beaker, the only objects in the lab are a yardstick and five phone books, at 1', 3', 4', 5', and 6' thick More...

Vici -- If that daffynition gives you the 'heebyjeebies', I IMPLORE you to NOT read any biographies of Anthony Wayne...(especially the last chapters)!

...and Jane -- I don't know WHAT #17 IS, but it kinda gives ME the heebyjeebies!

The breakwaters at the entrance of the Marina Del Rey would be completely white with the droppings of migratory sea fowls, California sea gulls, Brown pelicans, and the 'fragrance' would make everyone hold his/her breath for as long as he/she could!
