Daplap: When we were in South Dakota on a tour, our guide (native S. Dakotan) explained that the capital, Pierre, was named by French trappers who were the first in the region; later Swedish or Norwegian settlers applied the Norse name (Pierre in French = Peter in English = Peer in Swedish or Norwegian) -- so it's pronounced 'Peer'.
Like 'Peer Gynt'

Try figuring out how to say Bulahdelah, even the locals argue about it. According to Google it is pron.: /bʊləˈdiːlə/
& don't even think about Goonoo Goonoo!!!

Hello everyone!
Absolutely devastating news about the Boston Marathon explosions. So sorry for everyone over there. Hope none of you have family injured!

I've been wanting to run the Boston marathon for some years now and have been putting it off just because of the distance and expense involved. Today's events have strengthened my resolve to do it - I refuse to let the b@stards who did this dictate to me what I can and can't do.

My heart and best wishes go out to all those affected by the bombs in Boston.

Indeed, terrible news from Boston. I have no idea what drives people to perform such horrific acts. My good thoughts are with you topsiders. Lets hope they get the perpetrators soon!

Me too Kate, thank goodness I'm not cashed up or fit enough to be running the Boston at the moment! I'm sticking to half marathons for the time being, with my next marathon probably at least six months away.

Cooler weather, what's that, Viv?

Although it is a bit cooler today and drizzly. I hope it doesn't rain too heavily as my neighbour's young grandson and a couple of his mates dismantled my old wooden patio on the weekend. I'm now waiting for my new one to be erected. Waiting, waiting......
