One day (hopefully soon) we might return to using the power of the wind, sun and water to drive our machines. With modern technology, our mills will probably look very different. Pity.. some of those old mills were/ are very grand.

Updated my U-tube - For Jan 1st it is a TFTD:

"OH VERY YOUNG" performed by CAT STEVENS

I still have his LP (didn't through them under the steamroller). His songs have always been beautiful and the words wonderful and worth listening to.

MisTricia1 - OOOOOH! That is cold for Alabama. You better plug in the electric blanket tonight! My parents are in Southern Florida and they were predicting high 30's down there! They get very cold when it gets in the 60's!

Two years ago we drove through Alabama to go to Florida for Christmas and there were pansies still blooming. What a sight to see for the Michigander in December!

Debby - Pansies are planted for the winter in the South. Even as far north as Richmond VA. They do not like heat and actually thrive in the cold!

Hope you're all stocked up Don't pull any muscles shoveling snow!

And now to make some coffee. I actually stayed up until after midnight last night, so I could use a good strong cuppa joe.

Jane - Wow! It is hard to imagine any flower surviving winter! We made a trip to the store yesterday for milk, bread, eggs, etc. We are all set. My husband is plowing the driveway now. I don't shovel anymore! We have a very long driveway, (800 feet), so my husband plows with his big tractor.

4 a.m. did not seem late, at the time, as Steven and I danced rock'n'roll around the dance floor. It was only when the staff started laying up the tables for today that we wended our way to the camper. it was well below freezing but we had left the heating on so all was well. I surfaced around More...

My husband is sleeping upstairs, our daughters, their husbands, and our grandkids are sleeping downstairs. We spent the last day of 2007 together and are together today for the first day of 2008. This is the first time that has happened since the girls have been grown up. Being with family is the perfect way to end one year and ring in the new!
