There are some famous (?) animals, too. Dolly the cloned sheep, and Ol' Roy (Sam Walton's dog). But I don't see Lassie.

Just back from my tennis match. One set took more than two hours! My partner and I won in a tiebreak! Then I watched Kristea (sp.?) beat Jankovic at the French Open! Great match!

Rayray - I loved your latest poem!!!

Kathy - I'll check out that painting later. I've got to get some laundry started now.

Found the other cat. Looks like he's ready to pounce on Dwight. LOL
Shirley Temple looks like she has a man's feet. Is that significant?

There was a period of time on the site when many of us always managed to find a cat in a picture!

Kathy - that's an interesting picture. But there are only 5 women in it - and three of them were movie stars!! Hmmmmmmpff! Where are Marie Curie, Indira Ghandi, Golda Meir, Judy of San Diego (to name just a few??)

Thanks Eve, I used to get teased with that song (your new YouTube) when I was at High School! Probably applies now more than ever!

Jane, as to women, you may have missed Mother Teresa (why she is in this picture I can't understand) and Dolly (the cloned sheep). And if I remember correctly, there are the 72 vestal virgins, but maybe they are men!

Some of us can only wish, June ...

CG - I DID miss Mother Teresa. She was kind of lurking in the background. Another interesting note: one of the people has been identified as Machiavelli OR Marie Curie.

Under Napoleon (THAT doesn't sound right...)
NEXT to Napoleon's boot is either Machiavelli or Marie Curie???

I just got back from a bike ride with my son - we rode for 90 mintues (my legs are very tired !!) I was proud of myself - rode to Danada - petted the horses, got caught in a rainstorm, but I did it. The area we rode was like the picture - very open plain -- it's nice to see open space when you live in a city.

Kathy, thanks for the painting today. It was really interesting!

72 vestal virgins ? I think there are more male virgins than female ones these days.

I can't decide who I would like to be/have been if I had a choice. If I could return to my own youth equipped with the experience of age, then maybe I myself would become famous in some way. Better the devil you know - as they say.

Oh, really, Rayray? Or could it be that one ONLY hears about FEMALE virginity? There never seems to be comments about males one way or another. But I thought it always took two...

My thoughts and prayers to all the families and friends of those who were on board the Air France flight. I wonder if we will ever learn what really happened to that flight which obviously crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. A plane with all the safety features built in and one that had an immaculate record for safety and stability. Nothing is ever certain.

Interesting subject Shiela..(why isn't your name spelt in the usual way, i.e. Sheila?)...anyway...in my home town of Winchester, U.K., stands a statue of King Alfred, proudly holding aloft his sword. Legend has it that he will drop his sword if a girl of 16 who has never been kissed passes by. I believe that the legend has needed updating in modern times....!

Spellmaster, someone at the birth records office recorded it wrong. I spelled it the common way until I went to university and found it spelled "wrong" on my birth certificate. It was easier to change my spelling than to go through the courts to change the birth certificate. I felt that More...

Shiela, whomever registered your birth must have been following the old rule: I before E except after C.

I learned that when the sound of the word is "ee" it's i before e except after c. There are fewer exceptions to that one (weir, weird and a few others I can't be bothered trying to remember just now), so it's much easier to apply.
My sympathies to you Shiela. There's noithing worse More...

The French Open's been great except for lack of sleep. Went home early yesterday for afternoon snooze. Sam Stosur is the first female Australian to reach the 1/4 finals since Nicole Provis in 1988. Federer was lucky last night.
