When I first saw the photo of the agriculture display, I thought someone had planted birthday cakes.

We are going to be in the triple digits, too, Shiela.

Whew, you guys are suffering!!! I used to complain about how hot it got here. But now I just smile remembering my experience in Phoenix. We're having our hot weather in 81º F today. I ran for the first time in a week. It never was cool enough to run there!

Now I'm having to treat dry scaly patches of skin all over me. I must have gotten very dehydrated there because now my vision is blurry and I have to see an ophthalmologist. Argh!

Oh, excuse me. Good Maen, good people. I drank so much tea yesterday in my efforts to stay hydrated that even the trace amounts of caffeine added together to a sleepless night. I've been going through stacks of old, old receipts, tossing what I can.

Dave, that about sums it up about how hot and dry it is here.

Though, last night I was being teased. Well, yesterday, there was a beautiful rain cloud, that lingered for hours, a nice dark gray color. Then a cousin, 40+ miles to the right of me announced strange moisture falling from the More...

Good Maen, all. It promises to be another warm day in WNC, pushing the 90°F mark. Am finished my yard work for today - cut down another straggly crepe myrtle and hoping it will re-grow bushier. Time now to cool off with a cold drink and a tomato sandwich.

Kathy.. in your prize award comment, didn't you mean to say "...attention to de tail!"?

Finally! A day I can relate to! I used to work in a zoo, and people keep suspecting that I'm trying to start my own.

Captain J, I followed your example yesterday and had my own tomatoe sandwich. The fresh basil stayed in the garden. Sounds like a great idea again today. Our tomatoes are getting smaller and the skin seems really thick, but the garden is surprisingly still producing.

I believe we have a zoo around here. Monkeys climbing over everything, herd of elephants running through the house, a child with octopus arms, giggling hyennias (that does not look like it is spelt right), yep, we have it all.

Karen, my tomato crop seemed to have ripened all at once and I am deluged with 'cherry' and 'better boy' tomatoes, so I've been enjoying the lunch time sandwiches and pasta salads with cherry tomatoes sauteed in olive oil for dinners. They're too good to let them go to waste and sadly, I've never learned how to can them. The added basil does make for an interesting taste treat tho.

Yesterdays batch was all plum or grape tomatoes, what was not just popped into my mouth, was made into sandwich and just sliced for dinner. Have not tempted canning tomatoes, yet. Man, generally makes sauces this time of year, but he has not even touched his books this year, yet.

Speaking of food, wonder if my Things would like breakfast? It is only 11:30. Have no idea why their doctor would say they are a little under weight.

You guys are making me jealous. Still waiting on the tomatoes and peppers to come in here. The lettuces and the peas have been gangbusters this year, the beans are just starting to come in.
