The severe thunderstorms hit around 2 this morning and lost power around 2:20. The power came back on at 7:10 this morning and the heavy rains stopped around 8:30, you know after I got my girls out the door and to school. After we got home, got Thing II out of her wet clothes, bundle her up in a blanket and turned on a cartoon. Have not heard from her for almost an hour.

Rains are supposed to continue off and on for the rest of the day.
21/Mar/12 1:32 AM

Thing II is still alive, she just yelled for her second breakfast. To be so little she really can put away the food.

Good Maen, good people. Kathy, your post anticipated my "spring" avatar.
And yesterday evening we saw the most intense rainbow - a complete one - right from our house plus another faint double above!

Sarah Beth, it was a wonderful T-storm, if you did not have to get out in it or use electricity for anything. I had candles, flashlight and matches ready. Man left around 3 this morning and said water was coming over the roads then, but though water was still standing on the roads when we left for More...

Wonder if Jamie got any of this? A cousin, who is about 2 hours away, in some direction, said they had it really bad, with tornadoes.

Anne, to avoid yesterday's comment coming forward, start every day "fresh" by loading the home page from scratch or by clicking the link that says Sudoku just to the left of the word Archive in the top left corner of the page.

I'm glad we didn't get that storm, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone else. Tornadoes are about the worst weather event you can get. Other nasties give you come warning. Even earthquakes occur on fault lines instead of randomly, like tornadoes.
21/Mar/12 2:38 AM
 |  |

Heidi, I agree about how little advanced warning comes before a tornado. That's why I am so grateful for weather radar. At least now we can track and analyze storm cells for a "heads up" and at least a few minutes warning in many cases - if you're looking for it. People without severe More...

I don't think I've ever had a First Day of Spring when the daffodils were already in bloom! Wow. I hope we don't pay for this with a late frost.

Tulips are in bloom here, Plum! The magnolias are already done.

The deciduous magnolias, that is.

I wouldn't call tornadoes exactly random. We never get them where I live ... hardly ever get thunder and lightening. All natural disasters can be devastating when severe. Even though there's little if any warning before an earthquake, I'll stay here and take my chances with them rather than move to tornado alley. To each his own.
21/Mar/12 3:10 AM

I wouldn't want to live in Tornado Alley either, although we get our fair share of tornadoes here, too. I was curious, Keith, about the incidence of tornadoes in California, and here is what I found:

Q: How common are tornadoes in California? When they hit, people always say how unusual More...

Hi all! "Lost time is never found again" was yesterday's mystery quotation and was found by HalT, Grasshopper, Pam, Peter, Margo and Jane.
