Deb, hope all goes well with Mark's recovery and that the surgery eases his difficulties.

Kathy, you commented on Aussies' accents. That would be to our ear. I've always wondered what we Americans sound like to the rest of the English speaking world.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Unfortunately being single male makes adoption agencies suspicious. I understand it, there are a lot of sick people out there, but I don't like it. Anyway, when you file an application you can specify a lot about what you're looking for: age, gender, ethnicity, More...
 |  |
Lp - We Americans do sound strange to English speakers from other countries. While we were traveling in Oz we had Aussies tell us they like to listen to our American accent! Quite a switch!
 |  |
Warren - Unfortunately, there are probably many more suspicions about single men who want to adopt tham single women. And I suppose it wouldn't make much difference whether you said you preferred male or female child. It's a shame.

Kathy,
Did you send pics to LK in MN? I know she would love to see them and I think you have her email. Let me know.I'm off to Franklin's violin lesson and workshop but will check back about 2:00 PST.

ULTIMATE FEMALE JOKE (from my e-mail today)
It has long been contended that there are male jokes and there are female jokes. And there are uni**x jokes. Here is a joke I consider a true female joke. I offer it to you in the hopes that women will love it and men will pass it along to a woman More...
 |  |
an exceptionally tall, handsome. extremely se*y middle-aged man entered. He was so striking that the woman could hardly take her eyes off him. The young-at-heart man noticed her overly attentive stare and walked directly toward her. (As all men will.) Before she could offer her apologies for so rudely staring, he leaned over and whispered to her,
 |  |
'I'll do absolutely anything that you want me to do, no matter how kinky, for $20.00 on one condition.' Flabbergasted, the woman asked what the condition was. The man replied, 'You have to tell me what you want me to do in just three words.'
 |  |
The woman considered his proposition for a moment, and then slowly removed a $20.00 bill from her purse, which she pressed into the man's hand along with her address. She looked deeply into his eyes, and slowly and meaningfully said .............

'Clean my house.'

2:39 - and I do believe that it is a chipmunk peeking out from under the lab's head...

4:18 Cute pooch, but what's under it?

Warren, You do whats in your heart and soul because you know them better than anyone. The best to you. When we lived in Springfied we had the choice of a two year old and a nine year old dog, I picked the nine year old because I know most people would want the two year old. We had him a little over More...

Oh, Kathy, what a great (and ever so real/true) joke. I love it and must pass it on.

I know that we have accents to others' ears, but just really wonder what an American accent sounds like. It sounds so 'normal' to us, while British and Australian accents sound so exotic. I guess it is one of those things I'll never know (on a very long list!!).
 |  |
Heard that joke before only the roles were reversed..the man said 'paint my house'.
 |  |
Kathy saves her jokes than brings out some of the best. I will get the album for Barb, thank you. Villanova and UConn should be a good one. The 500 meters speed-skating wasn't that a h**l of a race. Good for Apolo Ohno.

the chipmunk looks a wee bit uncomfortable...

Warren I work in the childcare sector and yes even now in the p,c and anti-discriminatory world we live in it is still believed that only men are perpetrayers of abuse. I know this certainly not to be the case. Keep on trying to adopt male or female you sound like a lovely man, some kid out there needs someone like you xxx (Sorry if my spelling isnt too good)
 |  |
Adoption is not about finding the right child for the adult but about finding the right adults for the child. In an ideal world every child would be with their own mom and dad. Where this is not possible, it is best for the child to be placed with a mom and dad, as closely matched as possible to the original family. The best interest of the child should be the prevailing consideration

2 54 my best score so far :)

Yvette, Your spelling is good, your thoughts are perfect.

Suzanne, I did send pics to LK at same time I sent to you & Ed. I also sent her an e-mail re: her daughter's website, but I have not heard back from her. Maybe more computer problems? Did you check out Dave's website yet?
Ed, sent you another e-mail.
Must take a break for awhile now. Too much time at this computer again today. Would much rather have been playing tennis!

More jokes. Very disappointing, Yvettes are no better than Deb's, but at least it ain't poetry Ed! I was starting to warm to Deb until she dumped on my dog and called me blond! If any-one is going to say my dog has reflux, it will be me! And everyone knows, that if i did have hair, it would be grey and stringy!
 |  |
aw man, that sudoku puz was pure well hard, like my penis. full on robot chubby. all over the doggy's fur. mmmmmmmmmm.
 |  |
Fairly new to this... have 3 questions:
<> What does 'Good Maen' mean? I've never seen that word until here.
<> I don't get it - I understand these are 'easy' puzzles, but how do so many of you do them in 3 minutes or so? Even if I could begin to approach those times, I More...

On a really serious note, there is a lot of comment on adoption in today's column, and a lot of emotional crap coming out. I have one adopted son and know a little of the matter. Any-one who opts for adoption has spent a LOT of time thinking about just that and would have had a LOT of councelling More...
 |  |
of rubbish. If a family has adopted a child, they have been through so much, they are the right people for the child. I wish who-ever is going through this well, they will cherish most of the time, bless the natural parents most of the time, and put up with some terror some of the time. A bit like a natural child really, and that is the point!

mAen to all .What a beautiful dog
