Good morning everyone.

If Sudokuland was Facebook I'd say:
yay! I get to go to church today and pick up recordings from the past two weeks (I love the Gospel of John).

If Sudokulan was my yahoo homeschool group I'd say:
I'm looking for people to help brainstorm a creative ambience for the November event -- something a bit non-traditional but that still ties into Thanksgiving.

If Sudokuland was my start up log, I'd journal:
"A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder," by E. Abrahamson and D. Freedman (library 650.1) worth a reread for descriptors of the "psychology" of mess and neat and for thesis that business creativity, flexibility and quick responsiveness is often hampered by excessive order and control systems.

If Sudokuland was a sticky note, I'd say:
Start pizza dough 1:15

But this is Sudokuland - and I love the place it has in my day with its range of inhabitants -- so:
Sudokuland people.

Hey, Ian, Tami and Kathy. Things have been slow, and I haven't been adding much lately, so I thought I'd import a few postings.

Good Maen, all!
Terri - nice shot of Bridalveil...you must have been there in the spring - plenty of water off the falls.
Yum Plum - pizza sounds delish! Pizza and football - or in my case, baseball.

Hi Plum, for the homeschool group, how about researching what foods were served at the first thanksgiving and coming up with recipes for them. There is your social studies and if they use the internet, technology. For math, have them convert the recipes to double or triple the amount or convert to More...

Plum: "Slow" is relative, and sometimes the definition needs to be adjusted...

After the snail was run over by the turtle, the snail's friends asked him what happened. He said, "I don't know, it all happened so fast."

Will we get to 22 today?

I'm thinking about your home school group and something non-traditional, Plum.
Something they could make? Lots of fall leaves where you are. Make a wreath.
Thanksgiving baskets for those in need.
Face paint a pumpkin.
Make candle holders out of small pumpkins (carve out a hole in the More...

Excellent, Tami! We did once make a meal with "original" recipes for Thanksgiving. The kids were amazed at how much work was involved! No opening cans and boxes, no electric mixer, etc. It was a real eye opener.

Plum, Lots of food for thought. Tami, Loved your expansion on Thanksgiving for Plum's homeschool group. Aussi Sudoku, you are such a great gang, with lots of belly laughs & giggles. Short of time (and bright ideas!?!) to post often.

Has there been a major exodus from the site? Was there a fight? I have been away for a bit... medical issues for both me and Dexter, and my neighbor. It is all keeping me busy.

Hi Betty. I don't post too often either. My son is a big Red Sox fan and my niece just started at Curry College. We are hoping to visit your city sometime before she graduates.

Today, I shall have time to visit sporadically! Today and tomorrow due to the unassigned day LAUSD has given its teachers and students. Before it was based on a Jewish holiday because we had a large number of Jewish teachers who took the day off. Now I'm not too sure. Is it a Jewish holy day or is it another furlough due to budget cutbacks?

Tomorrow is a Jewish Holiday, Yom Kippur. We are also off for the day but I will be in temple instead of playing. I am supposed to be grading papers but got sidetracked by my computer.

oooh, Tami - are you a fellow homeschooler? At the very least you're a kindred spirit: You know how to build a unit study!
We've been there and done that one -- "The original pilgrim foods" -- 2-3 times in the past 15 years. There's a great little book called "Eating the More...

I am not a homeschooler, Plum. I am a middle school math teacher.

Thank you Plum. How old are your children? I am always willing to help you with ideas if you need them. I have lots of materials for math, and some other subjects I am willing to share. Let me know what you could use and I can scan and email to you.

Kathy - great ideas. Your scouts must have had a great time! Unfortunately for my Thanksgiving ambience, I must be more creative because there is an October bonfire and Harvest Party coming up with autumn and pumpkin theme activities (it's actually a new school year family social time to get to More...

Okay - Sudokuland can help me: I'm collecting different ways of "Saying Grace" before a meal. Religious and/or humorous. (It just needs to be family friendly.)

last year's bonfire night = autumn decorations and harvest games for kids + everyone bring your own chili and add to the cauldron for one huge big batch and side dishes and PIES to go on the long table! YUM YUM and lotsa fun.

Plum: There's a book called "52 Ways to Say Grace." Both Amazon and eBay have them right now for $7-12. It's both a book and a set of cards, and maybe your library has it.

An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar.

The view was fantastic, the beer excellent, the food exceptional.
