G'day mates, here's today's daffynition:
Oxymoron, n. Someone who is as dumb as an ox.

...And here's today's factoid:
The Roman emperor Nero played the bagpipes.

The answer to yesterday's poozle is.....
Pete told them to form a circle around him. All the squad was facing in at Pete, ready to shoot, when they realized that everyone who missed would likely end up shooting another squad member. So no one More...

Given the word STANDARD, take away two letters and add three digits to make a logical sequence.

I have been further reflecting on the opening of the Olympics.
The most positive aspects were the creation of the Olympic symbol as if from a steel foundry and the merging of many torches into one - magnificent. Also the creative symbolisation of the Industrial revolution.
The negative More...

Kayo..... You outdid yourself today. The daffynition is pure genius! The factoid is a strange one, all right. Now I'm wondering how many instruments Nero played.

Slow day. Slept in. Looks like I just missed 22 (Grats Kayo) but I'm at least a half hour late.

Plum.... I would have worked on yours.... truly... but I've been extra busy lately and didn't have the time. I spotted ''pole vault'' right away and thought that those letters were a good place to start, but didn't get any further.

No problem, Heidi. I've been having the same problem with the regular and picture poozles. There are some days I don't even realize more than 24 hours have gone by without a dip into Sudokuland. I made it a priority yesterday and this morning because I hadn't realized that you were in line to be substitute poozler. So glad you were. I liked your poozle.

Other clues were that so many events end in -ing. Also, once you started solving you might realize that the list is in alphabetical order.

I just discovered that I have 5 days to get a fence up, when I thought I had 2 weeks. The holes have been dug, but I have to place 59 5''x7' wooden posts in the holes, set them in concrete, then attach 37 16'x50'' livestock panels to them. I really hope I can do it, since I have to take frequent breaks.

Wow. Just sayin', Heidi, that's an awful lot of work. Hope the coolers temps reach down your way and hope your body holds up strong. And hope you get lots of help!

I just unloaded all 59 posts and put them in the post holes. Now that the trailer is freed up, I can go get more of the supplies I need (5,900 lbs of concrete and 37 livestock panels). I won't pick up anything until tomorrow, though. I need to rest my back today.
