The "Mole Man" just left after giving me a lesson on getting rid of my moles and gophers. He was very informative and I have a new interest it controlling the rodent population in my yard. Off I go ....

Quick Mum news - she had an OK night, was unwell for a couple of hours from 0230, but then settled. Then, I had a call from the hospital about 0800 saying she had just gone into surgery, it had been decided it was safe to proceed, so it happenend. She probably won't be out of surgery until about 1400 here.

It's a beautiful sunny day in Brisbane - still a bit smokey from the burn off around Mt Coot-tha.
The start of our second long weekend in a row. We get Monday off this time to celebrate Labour day.
My brother has come down from Hervey Bay so we are off to have lunch with mum tomorrow - an early Mothers day lunch.

CP I hope your mum's ok and that she recovers soon. My prayers go out for her and for you. Stress isn't good and I know you're going through that now. So breathe deep and let it out slowly and relax. You'll need to be calm and strong for her.

Haven't had a problem with moles but we do have gopher. Ugh with those big yellow teeth! Tried to save one by the nature preserve while I was running but it wouldn't have anything to do with me. So I ran on and when I came back to that spot again, it was gone but there was a raven high on a light fixture munching away on something.

CP, didn't I read in your message yesterday that your Mum was on blood thinners and that this was going to delay her operation a few days? Both Anne and I are on Warfarin and it is a fairly serious impediment to operations before it has worked out of your system.
I do hope she is comfortable and that the hospital staff are treating her kindly.

I'm going to do it! I'm going to run the Revlon 5K for Mother's day! It's been four years since I ran the last due to a bone graft surgery on my ankle. Yuck! Ever try to keep up with third graders in a wheel chair? Or try to walk on a sandy beach with crutches? I wouldn't recommend it!
