God morning everyone. G-h I learned a slightly different version:
Spring has sprung,
The grass has riz.
I wonder where the birdies is.
The bird is on the wing,
But that's absurd.
I always thought the wing is on the bird!

I googled it too and found lots of different versions. My mother always used to say it. The full poem is quite long, but we only knew our version of the beginning.

My memory is corrected, Sacky. You are quite right, in fact after I pushed the 'submit' button I remembered that line, but not exactly where it resided. My Grandfather had a lot of quirky poems & other puzzles, stories & memory teasers. He taught me to say the alphabet backwards, play the solitaire game involving marbles in a + formation & Cribbage.
