Have done well on workouts this week, and went for a run last night. Somehow managed to pick up the pace, shaving 30-40 seconds off each mile. Happy about it, since this weekend I was a-huffin' & a-puffin'.

Chris, it occurred to me after an amusing conversation with a Canadian fitness friend of mine... you measure your pace in min/km? The US is odd in that races are often in Kms, but a runner's pace is measured in min/MILE, not min/km.

I'd mentioned to my Canadian friend that I was running at a 10'12' pace, and she replied my pace will get faster as I get back into running regularly. She mentioned her pace as 6'15', which included some walking. My jaw dropped... and then I saw that her Fitbit keeps the pace per km.

We both had to laugh. My 10'12'' mile pace converted is 6'23'' km. She thought I was getting passed by turtles, and I thought she was starting to train for the Olympics!

Okay, Keith, I've added a few.

How are our water-logged Texas friends doing?

They say that next week we may finally have a break from the rain. Still lots of flooding all around.

Glad you're still intact, Wolf.

So Keith, tell me about how #22 became 'your' number. I've not been posting here as long as others and missed the background story. (That should get you closer!)

Some ironic words from an old Kingston Trio song jump into my mind every time I hear or think about the terrible flooding in Texas ...

They're rioting in Africa, they're starving in Spain.
There's hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls.

Times seem to change a lot.

Judy, Texas sure doesn't need rain any more for a while!

Very sad to see the marsh drying up. Pretty soon the migratory water fowls will be going. The Mallard ducklings have grown. They're about half to three fourth the size of their sires. I have enjoyed the sight of the Great Egrets and the Snowy Egrets. Even the Canadian Geese even though they do More...

I'm getting better at recognizing birds as a blur. If I see a bird whiz by me with a blur of gray and yellow, I know I saw an American Goldfinch. A black blur with patches of bright red and yellow means I saw a Red Winged Blackbird. Oh well one day . . .

Jamie - I read your comment at the close of yesterday that your niece and family will be staying with you for the summer. I hope they have good insurance that will happen to take care of their house damage. Why were they trying to move to IL from TX? If it was for a job, will one parent still take that job?

June - How nice that you'll get to see Broni. Have you met before? I was surprised she's making it down to your area so quickly after posting some pictures of solitude in paradise on TOS recently. I hope you're going to the doctor for your leg problem. I hope it doesn't give out on you at the wrong time and really cause a problem!
