Oh, be still my pounding heart.

I don't write 'em Keith, and I'm always flexible about interpretations! I also say 'Every cloud has a silver lining' and I accepted that answer.

As an knowledgeable seamstress, though, I can assure you linings for jackets, skirts, pants, waistbands , etc. are on the inside. That's also true for purses, duffles and luggage which have them.

(At least I've never worn a jacket or skirt with the pattern on the inside and lining on the outside, not even when I've had too much wine!)

In fairness Keith... I thought that was one of the harder ones. I recognized the cloud names, but had a total brain collapse on the AG.

Learn something every day. I've gone my whole life thinking of a lining as on the outside, even though I knew the lining of a jacket was on the inside. I'm pretty sure it was because of picturing a cloud with a bright edge.

Morning all, I would like to see how that cat gets back on top.
Yesterday's mist has arrived to give us a thick fog, the houses across the street are just starting to appear.

Perhaps the saying should be: Every cloud has a silver outline.

I can picture the imagery, Keith... maybe it's the cloud's silver lining shining through?! (Now I'm wondering where the saying developed.)

Ahhhh, we have John Milton to thank for its origins in 1634, and a review of a novel in the Victorian England publication 'The Dublin Magazine' from 1840.

i envied Keith's old avatar. It is good to see that Kraken is envious of his present one.

Sheila, I hope you and hubby have a wonderful retirement. I have been retired for over twenty years and it has been wondweful until my health has been a problem. The moral of the story is: Do it now!
