I wonder if/when I have any grandchildren I can just have them call me Plum?

Hi Plum. Did you get my Jacquie Lawson birthday e-card? Your future grandies might have a tough time with Plum. The Pl sound is hard for baby tongues - that's why please often comes out as 'pease'. And Gr is hard, too, so Grandma becomes 'Gamma' I think you'll learn to love whatever they may call you!

Except for you guys, no one else calls me Plum, and I rather like the name.

I had a great tennis match this morning, the best I've played in years! I was trying out a new demo racquet, a Volkl Organix 7, & loved it. Came right home & called the tennis shop to tell them I wanted to buy it. It will be my early Mother's Day gift.

Also, I just noticed that fellow Floridian Jake from Winter Haven & Stella from NY have birthdays on May 4. to them. Jake, are you lurking out there? Stella has moved on to FB. (I refuse to call it TOS).

Sue, our daughters are nearly the same age. My middle daughter turned 42 on Apr. 30, & my oldest daughter will be 45 in Dec. Then there's my ''baby'' (& new mom) Kyley who is a mere 32!

Do any of you watch American Idol? I don't normally watch it, but turned it on last night to see Candice Glover who is one of the three finalists & who works at Fripp Island where our beach house is! I guess if she wins, she probably won't be working at Fripp much longer!!

Kathy - thanks! Your card has me grinning from ear to ear. What a special treat.

I spent my birthday tracking down a new used Saturn SC1 for Burl. Absolutely nothing out there compares with the mpg he gets with the Saturn and he works in Indiana, commuting 2 hours a day.

He More...

Yep, folks, it'll be time for me to shed my 'winter leg warmers' ... please, Lord, send me a finished bathroom! Absolute final day of work will be May 14th. We're heading to New York for a few days and that is holding up the last finishing touches. Counter tops come on the 8th. (And my electric razor is good for nothing, in case you were wondering!)

Kathy, the difference between your oldest and youngest is the same as my oldest and youngest! Kind of hard to understand why so great a difference. But the neat thing is that the oldest sometimes volunteers to babysit the youngest!

I remember when my older son invited his brother to accompany him on a business trip in the next state over. Younger son was thrilled because he got the chance to drive part ways.

Busy weekend coming up. Starts off sad, a funeral of a close friend's mother. She was a lovely lady who would join us occasionally for lunch.
The for the other end of life, a birthday party for my granddaughter.
The hopefully, Sunday with Kathi and Robert!

Thanks to all for who helped with suggestions for my new status. I will keep a list and see what works when the time comes. My daughter will no doubt want a say in the matter. The other grandmother has grandies and she is Nanna so that one is out.

Kayo, I have some concern about your factoid today. An appendix operation is a safe-guard against future probles that can occur, including cancer. While acute appendicitis is typically managed by surgery, in uncomplicated cases antibiotics are both effective and safe. While antibiotics are More...

Back home from our trip to Shreveport and a visit with Rob & Kathi in San Francisco.

I had my tonsils out when I was 5 because my sister had tonsilitis, and the Dr. told my father, ''Lets just do them both.'' I believe I've had way less problems throughout my life with sore throats because of it. I had to have my appendix out when I was 12 because it got infected. I've never missed it.
