Oh Plum no one can raise our children like we can. The TV issue is on the other side of the family along with volume. Words like "I know you have raised children before, let's try to change past mistakes," keeps coming out of my mouth. To both sets of grandparents and to the girls aunts and uncles. 06/Feb/09 4:12 AM |  |
Whew a person in my condition should not take a ride like that. Where is the dizzy smiley? 06/Feb/09 4:13 AM |  |
2:24 Hi to all. Lovely singing Shiela you managed to hit the top é! Thought for the Day: Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. 06/Feb/09 4:14 AM |  |
Oh Judy, I am not really bashing grandparents. I had the best grandparents in the world, and they did do things that my mother would not allow. Guess it is a tradition.I would be more insane than I am now if the grand parents have not taken the girl and spoiled her more so than Man and I have. 06/Feb/09 4:17 AM |  |
Glinda, yesterday - It's a hatchback with the battery in the back shell of the engine! I do feel a little cooped up in it though... 06/Feb/09 4:18 AM |  |
Guess it is time to bring out the broom. Not that I will be allowed to sweep anything. The girl has been eating since 7 and it is now going on 11:30. That is really not so bad but I just was given a view of the contents in her mouth. (I love motherhood)It was cake, we have not had cake in the house since the weekend. She must have a stash somewhere. 06/Feb/09 4:20 AM |  |
My kids know that their grandparents have set a very high bar when it comes to spoiling grandchildren. They've trained us all very well. So, my husband and I should be able to get away with much when our turn comes. 06/Feb/09 4:26 AM |  |
I know, Karen, and I was just kidding about bending the rules. We do adhere to the wishes of our children, with an occasional late bedtime or second scoop of ice cream thrown in. The most important contributions of grandparents, as I see them, are the individual time and attention we provide, the More... 06/Feb/09 4:27 AM |  |

Karen - worse than the visual answer to "what are you eating" is the habit of automatically accepting anything a child wants to put in your hand. I gave that up after one child kept picking her nose and handing me the results. 06/Feb/09 4:28 AM |  |

Stick a stamp on her forehead, cancel her butt, and send her here, Karen! 06/Feb/09 4:33 AM |  |
Oh yuck Plum. I know though we are trying to keep fingers out of our noses. Lately, if she cannot get into hers she tries to get into Man's or my nose. I hope this is a short phase. 06/Feb/09 4:35 AM |  |
Oh, Plum--what an adventure parenthood can be! Judy: I am so looking forward to grandparenthood as you described, BUT only after the one and only finishes school and gets married (yes, I am an old-fashioned girl). André: great TFTD--going in my file of future email signature comments! 06/Feb/09 4:35 AM |  |

Glad I didn't submit an answer Fiona - all i could come up with was Bible and I knew it didn't fit all the clues. DIARY is sooooo obvious - now that I know the answer. 06/Feb/09 5:00 AM |  |
Sorry stepped away and ended up having to sweep the floor myself. I just knew the girl would take that task away from me too. Keith if you really want to continue the Kleenex conversation, boy I have some tales for you. 06/Feb/09 5:13 AM |  |
I hurt all over. I have filled a raised bed with soil and compost, stacked logs and wheeled several barrows of sand and spead them today plus visited the store for more 'terreau' that's top soil. I bought few plants and planted them then....had my first 2 Gin and Tonics of the year and didn't they hit the spot. 06/Feb/09 5:25 AM |  |
 GMo's back for real now!!! 06/Feb/09 6:08 AM |  |

Nuts. I was half-way through my second bowl of steamy soup when the school nurse called. D1 has a fever. So much for tranquility. Now 2.5 hours later I have collected all 3 kids. Thankfully the younger two appear healthy. 06/Feb/09 6:47 AM |  |
Jill, hope it is just an afternoon thing and they all return to school tomorrow. My cure all for everything--a good nap. Which I am off to take of. Till later. 06/Feb/09 7:02 AM |  |
Morning all!Love the photo. So often I look at the sky and think 'if you saw this in a painting you wouldn't believe it'. Now with photoshop I have to extend my thoughts to photos too. I choose to believe it is real... it's nicer that way! 06/Feb/09 7:28 AM |  |
Plum and Karen, when d1 was an infant my grandmother wanted to put honey on her pacifier to soothe her! Stomped my feet and faced her down! Now they are older the 'treats' change. I didn't want my kids to have mobile phones with cameras. Guess what Nana bought them for Xmas? They picked them. She told them, don't tell Mum because you know she will call me and say no... 06/Feb/09 7:31 AM |  |
Great Photo - I would suggest Fish Eye Lens distortion. 06/Feb/09 7:39 AM |  |

Hi everybody. As a Grandparent I can proudly say that my daughter has successfully made most the mistakes I did! Given enough time she will discover how to make the rest of my repertoir(sp?). Talk about family tradition. On the upside I am proud to own up to both of my children, so those mistakes wern't that bad, so she is welcome to them. 06/Feb/09 7:53 AM |  |

A cowboy walks into a seedy cafe. He sits at the counter and notices an old cowboy with his arms folded staring blankly at a full bowl of chili. After fifteen minutes of just sitting there staring at it, the young cowboy bravely asks the old cowpoke, 'If you ain't gonna eat that, mind More... 06/Feb/09 8:17 AM |  |
Listening to the NEWS while doing puzzles. The floods are receding, but more rain on the way. My thoughts are with you Susan. Also with those in southern Australia where the temperatures are so high that the fruit is literally cooking on the trees. One fellow being interviewed said "Mother nature is giving us a bit of a belt, but we'el get over it!" ON-YER-MATE!!! 06/Feb/09 8:18 AM |  |
I think the distortion issue is rather simple:most cameras take a pic that is a 3x4 rectangle, while the site requires photos to be square. I think the sumbitter chose to let the aspect ratio change instead of clipping off the sides of the original rectangle to make it a square, thus the arc of the rainbow becomes a parabola. 06/Feb/09 8:33 AM |  |
