3:05 slow as a snail today. Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

Hi Plum, fi and Andre!
Your TFTD reminds me of Romper Room...Miss Nancy (was that her name?) would look through her magical looking glass at the end of the show and say, "...and I see Jimmy and Rosie and Susan..."
I'm really dating myself here - don't think anyone but stateside folks would know Romper Room.

re: Romper Room - I just caught the tail end of the run (but I missed the premiere of Sesame Street, which my younger brother stayed home to watch). I remember the Giant storyteller with a rocking chair by the fire and Captain Kangaroo. But because of Romper Room I was Seriously Disappointed when I got to Kindergarten and there were no inflated bouncy balls I could ride!

Oh forgot to say thanks Cynb for my treats yesterday. Boiler is nearly fixed, wather is nearly hot as they would say in Lancashire. Fred is being all sweet and doing sommersaults for me. Kind little thing x

Hi, Anne, andre and Jerry.

Hehehe, Plum! I loved Captain Kangaroo, too! I think I read an e-mail once about how Captain Kangaroo (sorry, don't know his real name) was a war hero in WWII. Does anyone else know about that or am I entirely confused.

Romper Room with Miss Nancy, Captain Kangaroo (Bob Keeshan) and Mr. Greenjeans--now you're taking me back ...

It's windy as heck here today, which I love!
08/Oct/09 1:14 AM

I just googled Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo). Seems the circulating stories are false. He did enlist in the marines in WWII just before his 18th birthday but it was just as the atomic bomb was dropped and he never saw any action.

RE: "Fiona standing feeding spaghetti noodles down the spout of the boiling kettle" - - - I want to know how she'd get them out. Tweezers? Needle nose pliers? ???
08/Oct/09 1:17 AM

Cathy - and moose and those silly ping pong balls!

Snopes is not always complete, but it is usually noted when they are uncertain of their information.

I watched a episode of Andy Pandy the other day, Watch With Mother...on the beeb. How things have changed, I bet even Bill and Ben are not flower pot men anymore.

(this is a random thought from the histoires du bertieus IIV...)

Hello Plum and other guests of the sudoku realm.

everyone!
About those kitchen disasters...
Did you know that a tea kettle left to boil dry will explode? I do. Massive kitchen mess.

And a turkey roasted with that little giblet packet inside does NOT make for a good Thanksgiving!

"I never watched any of those inane children's shows," she shyly admits ... but give me Howdy Doody and and the Mickey Mouse Club!
08/Oct/09 1:46 AM
 |  |

Why, Judy! We are, as they say, "of an age". It was Howdy Doody and Mickey for me too. I longed for a seat in the peanut gallery.....
08/Oct/09 1:58 AM
 |  |
... but we weren't shaped like peanuts, Kathy! Then ... anyway ...

Only Lonnie for me ... how about you?

Plum, I forgot about Moose--thanks! (And up in the peninsula, we got the Buffalo NY stations, so after school, it was Rocketship 7 with Commander Tom,Dustmop and Mattie ...)

Kathy, I see you've been to one of my Thanksgiving dinners ... sometimes, you've got to reach in clean up to the elbow to get that stupid packet out, not one of my favourite pastimes.

Bobby was the heart stopper for me, then there was that cute little Cubby....
Wow! I had no idea my memory was this good!!
