Heidi and June,
So there's a ditty about a lonely little petunia in the fuchsia patch? Sing it for me, will you, so I can learn it? I know the one about the white coral bells ...

Plum,,, it actually goes..." I'm a lonely little Petunia in an onion patch, and all I do is cry all day."

Yours continues.... upon a slender stalk, lilies of the valley line my garden walk. .... Oh, don't you wish that you could hear them ring? But that happens only when the fairies sing.

Shiela, I see that you have corrected my spelling error. I knew as soon as I posted it that I'd mucked it up but it was too late to correct it.

My Dad used to take his daily walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. He became good friends with the Head Gardener who used to give him fuchsia cuttings from their collection. Dad planted them in our garden and we had a wonderful collection. Unfortunately, Dad, the garden and presumably the Head Gardener are all gone now, but it remains a fond memory.

Luckily Ian, the fuchsias linger on to trigger that fond memory. Lovely shot!

Very colourful! I, too, know the song: I'm just a lonely little petunia in an onion patch ... and all I do is cry all day! Boo hoo!

4.10 I love them too. I have a BIL in Adelaide who is a member of the Fuchsia Club, and he has many varieties. Must ask him when they should be pruned.
