4:44 - June, when I was in England recently staying with an old family friend, I tried to explain to her what our magpies sound like. I was showing her some photos I had in my camera and found a couple of short movies of them singing on my patio. She was surprised.

Are Australian Magpies as noisy, and boisterous, as Canadian ones? Fun birds!

3:25. Hi everyone. They certainly are jacalmi, including having a reputation for swooping passers-by, sometimes causing nasty injuries, in Spring. There are a couple that keep me company in the vegie garden at times, coming to within a couple of metres in the hope of grabbing worms I've unearthed when I'm digging.

We have had a couple swooping lately, but they only go for small children which means the kids are terrified but they ignore adults.

With patience, you can get them to eat mince out of your palm

I love maggies. They can be very entertaining and they only swoop people to protect their young. More...
