It is a jacaranda. They have just finished flowering and were beautiful this year. (in Sydney) I have one in my yard but not my photo.

What a marvelous tree! Do jacaranda blossoms have a fragrance? Do they grow in the northern part of the US? Would love to see one in 3-D.

Common in Sydney. Beautiful to look at but the flowers drop everywhere and get very slippery under foot.
