5:15 A Plum Tart: I get educational catalogs that offer simple unpainted wooden toys instead of plastic and electronic ones. Perhaps this is what the children who play with such toys grow up and play with instead of video games? I applaud the trebuchet (sp?) game. It gets one acquainted with physics in a way that a modern "fantasy" martial arts movie fails to do.

3:15. That's one of my photos from my France trip in 2007. The bag being catapulted through the air was filled with flour and went around 300m, all the work having been put in by "volunteers" selected at random from the audience.
