I tried googling the location of these Hero Boulders and I got nothing. Anyone? Is Hero Boulders a local or generic term?

Sailor, at least you will be on the water unlike Firebird 9 (British Airlines 747) which flew through a volcanic ash cloud and all 4 engines flamed out.

What happened after that, Jack? Did it crash? I certainly hope not.

Not looking good Sailor. Not only did the airlines cancel flights but DKS is closed as well . Todays latest news forecasts no flights in or out of Denpassar tomorrow either. I think Bali will be full of stranded tourists and school leavers

Re the BA 747 which was inbound to Australia when the incident occurred. We flew out to London shortly after and one of the affected engines was flown back (inoperative) to the UK attached to the starboard wing of our flight. Quite amazing what planes can do

5:40, slow!! Hi all.

They look like they could be the Moeraki Boulders in NZ.

Anne, actually it was Speedbird 9. They did restart all engines and returned to Indonesia. The Rolls Royce engines were built tough though the designers were amazed at how much damage had been done internally. It is an episode of Air Crash Investigators (if my memory is correct). Great job by the pilots and crew.

Thanks for the explanation, Jack.
Also Arachnid's comment about it.
I don't watch the Air Crash Investigators because it would put me off of flying and going on holidays.

Thanks very much for that, Jack. Have just checked it out. I probably heard about it at the time but being a mum with young kids at that time I didn't always get to watch the news in those days.
