Wild turkeys are rare now. I haven't seen any since I was last in Colorado.

When turkeys were re-introduced here, they scared the u-know-what out of the horses. But they adjusted, both the turkeys and the horses.

Maen all - Wonderful to see turkeys! They've had a hard time the last few decades, but are making a comeback.

I know where all the wild turkeys are, for those who think they are rare. They're here in No. Cal. They're quite adaptable in the suburbs, messing up the driveways, scratching up the flowerbeds and marching right down the middle of the street. We even have "turkey crossing" signs on at least one local road.

Turkeys have been reintroduced to Michigan, also. We see more and more of them. I couldn't believe it the first time one came walking up our driveway!

Great picture, Sue.

Wild turkeys even find a home in NJ, the most densely populated state in the USA!

maen all! the comeback here in the northeast,u.s.a. is remarkable to the point where they are almost considered a nuisance. not even the coyotes can keep them in check. my son hunts them by bow and still gets plenty. the breast meat is quite tender. the drumsticks are just that(drumsticks)!

Common sight here in Eugene, OR. I hear gobbling from down the street now. Love it after eggs hatch, and the family takes their early morning walks down the road.

How about a combo, Greg? Wild turkey served with Wild Turkey? Or maybe you'd rather have Wild Turkey with wild turkey?

There's plenty of wild turkey in Maine!!! I also love to see the families out for a walk.

Shiela, I'm guessing Greg would prefer the latter!

They are in our local parkland, Bella and I were chased by them one day, think we got too close to their nests.
Shame they don't have a bird called Jameson!

The wild/bush/scrub turkeys near my place are a real pest. They dig up the gardens and are just a plain nuisance.
My neighbour came out of his house on Friday carrying a dead one that their little Jack Russell had left in one of the girls beds as a present. I've seen their dog have a good chomp on more than one turkey - even though they are bigger than her!

So that's what wild turkeys look like before they put them in the bottle. I would never have guessed!
