Would love to hear the story of why this Grosbeak is on the fabric and not in a tree. First time I ever saw a Rose-breasted Grosbeak was on my birthday one year. Considered it a 'gift' from nature! 04/Jan/11 12:09 AM |  |
He looks kind of comfy there! 04/Jan/11 12:09 AM |  |
This guy is wonderful, peg!We don't have Rose-breasted ones out West. We have "Evening" ones. They are golds and oranges. Fun birds to watch. We look forward to their arrival in the spring. 04/Jan/11 12:39 AM |  |

I, too, am wondering about the turquoise corduroy. 04/Jan/11 1:08 AM |  |
I'll bet the goofy bird flew into a window and knocked himself senseless for a while. 04/Jan/11 1:57 AM |  |
maen all! they love hanging around in the pines and at feeders...seems of the migrating birds they're the first to arrive and last to leave. 04/Jan/11 4:19 AM |  |

maEn all - My husband and I are bird banders (ringers). This bird was captured, banded with a numbered band (which is reported to the US fish and wildlife service) and then released - after we photographed it. It has such a nasty bite, we put some protection on my husband's hand so it wouldn't draw blood We get them here every spring, but they don't stay to breed. 04/Jan/11 9:13 AM |  |
