I've seen them in the wild, but they had more blue in them. Are there more than one variety with different plumage?

4:15 When in the bush it is nice to hear their wake up calls. If you are lucky you have some near you in the outer suburbs.

Yes, Stephen, there is more than one variety, and the other has more blue! The one in this photo is the Laughing Kookaburra (which is found in the Eastern States & South-Western, Western Australia), the other is the Blue-winged Kookaburra (which is found in northern Australia). They are both in the Kingfisher family.
