50's aren't so bad!!!!! Children are grown and you can pursue things you have wanted to do all your life! You have the freedom to come and go and time to meet new friends. Life is what you make of it. Go forth and enjoy! Happy Birthday!

I'm another one cheering on the 50s--let the good times roll!

Well, I will be up for the BIG 50 next year, so it's great hearing the praises of getting older. But really it is just a number right? And now that we are living older they are calling 50 the new 30! It's just a matter of keeping healthy, active and having a positive attitude AND most More...

I'm with rest of you, let the good times roll right on!

The 50s WERE great. And I can't complain about the 60s either. The 70s are taking some 'getting used to'.

Halt, to chime in with Jim, they all beat the alternative, or as someone said, we are on the right side of the ground! Oh, how morbid!

50's are (oops, were) great; hopefully the children are gone! remember the woman who had twins at 62 (transplanted egg, of course); she'll have teenagers when she is in her 70's; yikes

Oh, it's nifty to be fifty!

Hal, I agree, the seventies aren't so bad except that the joints start creaking and everyone else thinks you are OLD. I prefer to think of it as maturing gracefully - like a good wine.

Holy crud, Hal and Ian, you guys are really OLD!!
07/May/08 6:13 AM
 |  |

Right you are, Ian. You're old if you think you're old and I'm not there yet. I've got three more grands to take on their 'coming of age' trip and the youngest is four, so I've got to stick around for at least 8 more years.
And pay no attention to that whipper-snapper from San Diego. We'll outlast her easy.

Ouch! I'll snap YOUR whipper, Hal!

Hal, where do you take your grandkids for their special trips? You don't do that out-in-the-woods-naked-with-no-food-thing, do you?

50 is the new 30, well so they say. just need to tell the body that

Judy, I agree with Hal - you're only as old as you feel. I feel old occasionally, but much less now that I have survived heart surgery. I would feel a whole lot better if only I could get rid of some of the medications they are stuffing into me. But Hey, I'm still warm and vertical, and that's what counts!

Uhhhhh- The children are grown, but we still have two at home.

Well I've seen zany at eighty...but I'm good where I am...alive...and loving....and looking for more......While if I get more..don't know what I'd do..but I'm a big actor so I'm telling you true....the seventy thing is prety good as you go...and as they say ..hello..you want fries with that?

Scary thought, I'm only in my late 30's but I've had creaky joints for over 10 years already! It's a troubling thought, given the potantially huge number of years still to come!!!

Facing 50 in December. One son still at home... mostly because I am starting life over and I think he just doesn't want to leave me alone like his father has. Besides, his work is only 30 miles away... so he is saving money. (That's pretty close to home in Northern Arizona.) I am looking forward More...

Before we totally lose ourselves to banter and reverie, who is the lovely lady in the pic that kicked off this age-examination? Come on, somebody - 'fess up! Now I'm off to Judy's page to see if Hal is a true nature lover
