For those who want to know more about the horse they have drawn (once Peter does the draw), this is the best form guide I could find. Each horse has a drop down arrow which will reveal all the details.http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-10-30/melb ourne-cup-2016-field-form-guide-and-sweep/7977812(I have put a space in the word 'melbourne'- you'll need to remove it) 01/Nov/16 10:49 AM |  |
I have chosen 'Qewy' as my pick for obvious reasons being a Queenslander. 01/Nov/16 10:50 AM |  |
 Five horses left.....C'mon you Yanks. Get involved. 01/Nov/16 11:00 AM |  |
Time's running out so I'll just select some Sudokuists and allocate them a horse. HalT, Keith, CG, Joyce, Cathy you're all in! 01/Nov/16 11:16 AM |  |
In at the end of the day - Halloween candy has been given out and only ate 3 pieces! Closed the door when I had 3 pieces left and came upstairs- to settle for the night - back to my job tomorrow! 01/Nov/16 11:22 AM |  |

 Looks like I've drawn a good horse. Thanks Peter. 01/Nov/16 12:02 PM |  |
Thanks for that Peter - I've got the favourite, hubby has one with very high odds. Going out in a minute, if I can get into the TAB, might put a trifecta on with these 2 horses and my fav Qewy. 01/Nov/16 12:06 PM |  |
 Das deutsche Pferd gewinnt! 01/Nov/16 12:21 PM |  |
I missed the Melbourne Cup because of work demands, that is a bummer. I did get to thinking about the way life goes and how my life and a lot of ours has changed since we found this site 10-11 years ago. My son was already out of high school attending university he is now married and the father More... 01/Nov/16 12:53 PM |  |
Thanks, Peter, for doing the Melbourne Cup sweeps for us. And CynB gets big thanks to the link that tells us about the horses. I like my horses name, even if she doesn't have much of a chance to win, place or show! 01/Nov/16 1:44 PM |  |
Mr Cee got Excess Knowledge. Is that appropriate or what? 01/Nov/16 1:51 PM |  |
Those thoughts went through my mind too, Hal but in the end I put it down to being an oxymoron. 01/Nov/16 1:57 PM |  |
Got to check with Lynne about Keith's horse. 01/Nov/16 2:01 PM |  |
Thanks, Peter ...I arrived late just now & was trying to figure out how I should choose a horse while checking CynB's site.... Hmmm, found more chatter and my dilemma solved - thanks for choosing such a fine potential contender... huh! 01/Nov/16 2:06 PM |  |
Peter said it, Cee. Not me. 01/Nov/16 2:06 PM |  |
 Dobber! 01/Nov/16 2:07 PM |  |
My bedtime again. Night all. 01/Nov/16 2:08 PM |  |
May the best horse win.... 01/Nov/16 2:08 PM |  |
It's all in the fun of it - will the race have been run when we all awake tomorrow morn? Or will we be able to keep tabs while it's happening? 01/Nov/16 2:10 PM |  |
I still struggle with the time difference, plus I couldn't find when the race is Nov. 1st. There must be more than just this race, though ... how many others are run to get the day rolling???? FYI: The winner of the 2016 Melbourne Cup will run approximately 3mins 20sec for the 3200m providing the track is good to dead. .....whatever that gibberish means? 01/Nov/16 2:16 PM |  |
Joyce, it will be run at 3PM Sudoku time, which is less than 45 mins. 01/Nov/16 2:17 PM |  |
Time for bed, sleep well my friends 01/Nov/16 2:19 PM |  |
I thought the same about Mr Cee's horse, of course. Very apt! Qewy is the one I have picked because my favourite car is a Holden HQ (usually referred to as a Qewy)and it is an Irish horse. I have a 'thing' about all things Irish. I haven't bothered to put any money on it at the TAB - my once a More... 01/Nov/16 2:41 PM |  |
and of course I, too, am a Queenslander which is another plus for my chosen horse! 01/Nov/16 2:45 PM |  |
Oceanographer is a beautiful looking horse... thanks Peter There is a beautiful looking Grey parading around the starter ring ... would like to have a bob or two there... 01/Nov/16 2:59 PM |  |
 Almandin first, Heartbreak City 2nd, Hartnell 3rd. 01/Nov/16 3:08 PM |  |
Hal 1st, Kathy 2nd and CynB 3rd. As usual my donkey is still running. 01/Nov/16 3:11 PM |  |
 Thanks, CynB! 01/Nov/16 3:12 PM |  |
Beanie, that Grey was a beautiful horse. It was called Grey Lion. 01/Nov/16 3:20 PM |  |
Yay to the 'winners'. Thanks Peter for sweeping us up with the Cup! 01/Nov/16 3:22 PM |  |
I usually pick the greys....they look so nice. I hadn't seen anything about the colours of each horse. Bit out of touch this year. 01/Nov/16 3:25 PM |  |
 Peter, Qewy came 4th I think. 01/Nov/16 3:25 PM |  |
I am late as usual, so many things to do and so little time. 01/Nov/16 3:26 PM |  |
I never get any children for Halloween here, I do miss seeing the costumes. 01/Nov/16 3:28 PM |  |
Sorry CynB, the prize money didn't go to fourth. 01/Nov/16 3:29 PM |  |
