I know, I know. I lived in a campground near the Machinaw Bridge one time ... but using my left hand, that could be a problem. When I was recovering from my hip replacement, I found out that I was very right handed and had a lot of trouble learning to use by left ... Don't ask me how I found that out but it may put me out of the running to be a Michigonian.

Engrish is such a fascinating language.

I'm originally from Wisconsin, but spent every summer, as a child, on Mackinaw Island. Does that make me close to being a Michigander?

My husband Steve lived and worked in Detroit for 5 years, during a previous 'life' about 30+ years ago.

I have watched a lot of the Michigan commercials on TV ... Does that count??? They must be very lonely up there considering how many commercials I have seen.

And of course I am from England, not remotely connected to anyone or anything in Michigan...but I do quite enjoy our silly laws.

Dave - Is your plane a remote-control plane? Wish I were there to watch. They have a field several miles from my house where they come to fly the remote-controlled planes. It is fun to watch.

That was the ONLY good part of my childhood.
I have explored every inch of the island, both by bicycle and horseback. Including taking horses where they weren't supposed to go. But I have very pleasant memories of the world's greatest fudge!!!

The funny bit is that someone must have done that for them to pass a law against it!

I would have loved being on Mackinac Island for all my summers. Looked at a condo there a couple of years ago. I actually grew up 50 miles from there. And because of a previous class's 'incident', all the Senior high school trips afterwards went to Mackinac Island! But I liked it! I've run several 8 mile foot races around the island since.

One that I always found weird, although it has now been changed, was that it was illegal to commit suicide. If you were successful what were they going to sentence you to?
