G'day mates, wow! Lots of chat about yesterday's factoid. It's nice to know people not only read them but also occasionally think about them too.
Here's today's medical daffynition:
Red blood count - Dracula

..And here's today's factoid:
The average person sweats 2½ quarts of water a day.

Re: Factoid

Nevertheless, the idea that you should go out of your way to drink 8 full glasses of water in addition to normal eating and drinking is false. The original research that was based on actually said, essentially, 'which most people get in the normal course of the day.'

Here’s a puzzle.

A word ladder is a puzzle in which you are given two words, with steps in between them. You are supposed to change just one letter on each step as you go from the top word to the bottom word. Each step must be a common English word. Take 3 steps to change 'SPOON' to More...

The husband leans over and asks his wife, 'Do you remember the first time we had s*x together over fifty years ago? We went behind the village tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.'

Yes, she says, 'I remember it well.'

OK,' he says, 'How More...

Karen, try reading 'The Web File' to Thing 2. I mistakenly chose that book to read to two kindergarten classes. Argh! The tongue twisting sentences made reading it very interesting. My tongue kept tripping over the words! Missing in the story were a 'peck of perfect purple almost pickled peppers', a 'tub of tasty tart tomatoes', and a 'load of luscious leafy lettuce'!

Wait a minute you sweat 2.5 quarts a day and they tell you to drink at least 8 glasses (if each glass was 1 cup, that's 2 quarts). . . you better make up that last pint in something juicy in your meals!

Vici, I know how you pronounce your name, but I remembered a saying that was in reference to Ceasar - 'Veni, Vidi, VICI' I came, I saw, I conquered. The Classical Latin pronunciation of Vici is weekee and the Catholic church pronunciation is veechee. Which do you like?
12/Nov/12 3:27 AM

Shosho - I thought for a long time that my mom used that spelling for my nickname because she was a student of Latin. Found out there was a baby sitter up the street who used that spelling. Geeezzzze!
I didn't know about the 'weekee'...just the 'veechee'. In college my frat friends called me v-I-k-I...with long 'I's. Guess that was the Greek rendition

y'all.
Today we honor our veterans and still active military personnel. Thank you all for helping keep us safe over the years. It was in 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month that the hostility ended with the German signing of the Armistice, signalling an end More...

Now I see why my dad called today Armistice Day! I thought he was confused yesterday but now I understand. He was drafted while his family was in voluntary exile in Utah. Prior to the forceful move to concentration camps families in California were given a chance to leave on their own to inner states. So he remembers Armistice Day when he goes to the VFW celebrations.

I never knew that Japanese-Americans were given the option to move to the interior of the country or go to concentration camps. That puts a new light on it. Thanks Shosho. I learned something!

My cardiologist has restricted my fluid intake to 1200 ml (mililiters) (1.27 quarts) a day. It's not easy, but it's possible - and I'm still alive.
