Why, yes, I'll elaborate!

Skyglow is the orange 'smog' that hangs over town and cities at night. It is caused by inefficient lights shining needlessly into the sky, and is predominantly caused by street-lighting (hence the colour).

The apartment I live in faces a church. The church is very concerned for the safety of its congregation, so the parking lot is lit up like daytime on Sundays and Wednesdays. Until midnight. In addition, they have excellent security lighting that shines right into the cracks between my blinds.

I really appreciate being able to step out my door, look up, and if there aren't any clouds, see the Milky Way clearly. I pity city folk.

Seeing the stars while we were camping in Death Valley was amazing but I appreciated that. What shocked me was seeing the moon light bright enough for me to have a moon shadow!!!

As for stars sights in LA, it's not like not seeing any stars. We do. Right now when I run before sunrise, my favorite is Orion, Cassiopeia. Later in the year, I'll see the big and little Dippers.

We have a crap internet plan, It is off-peak from midnight to 0800. last night I came out when I got up for a loo visit at 0200, and resumed the download from the night before.
