Barb, noone said they had it relatively easy. What ONE person said was for the amount of money they will get, he would put himself in the same position. As our closest source, what more can you tell us?

Daplap. That was an old Little Jimmy Dickens tune from his Grand Ole Opry days. Also, 'Take an Old Cold Tater and Wait,' and 'Sleeping at the Foot of the Bed.' Just a few of his gems.

Thanks for the info on flying yesterday. It should help. Never even thought to bring a book. Too worried about needing something to barf into. I am sure that the idea of flying is much worse than the actual plane ride itself. Can't believe that in less than a week I will be on vacation!

Having read all the comments re the miners after my initial post (took the heat off you, Deb, didn't it!!), I stand by everything I said. Unlike Baz, I would not put myself in their position even if I was guaranteed to be rescued, for any amount of money. I still think that it wouldn't have hurt More...

I remember 'Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor...' from the early '60s - I think it was by Lonnie Donegan. Wasn't/Isn't he Aussie??

Ron: The song that makes me cry almost every time was on an episode of 'Touched By an Angel' a few years ago. 'Testify to Love'. The episode was about a boy who was dying of cystic fibrosis. At the end of the episode his mother, played by Wynonna Judd sang this song together with friends and family. The boy passes away as she is singing. I am getting teary just remembering it.

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye on the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they’d be your partner
They’d be your partner, More...

Ron, some songs (but certainly not all) that make me weepy are 'Where've You Been' by Kathy Mattea and 'The Cat's in the Cradle' by Harry Chapin.

Here are the lyrics to 'Where've You Been' (get out your hankies)

Claire had all but given up

Tori, don't know which class you were so bored in, however, if it was a writing class, you definitely should have been paying attention!!

Rainy day again today, however, we still need it. We've had about 2 inches of rain in the last 2 days. Has helped with the drought. Only problem is, More...

I choke up to 'I Do It All For You' from the Robin Hood movie ... Bryan Adams ... thank you, Canada!

EEEEEEK! We who suffered through disco 'music' thought that Steve Dahl's Disco Demolition Night and the riot at Comisky Park had put an end to the monotonous beat and empty lyrics of disco.
'My my, hey hey. Rock and Roll is here to stay!' ~ Niel Young
'And I know you don't belong here in heaven' ~ Eric Clapton That song chokes me up. RIP Connor Clapton

We can all agree that some very prophetic songs came out of the 70's that will live on forever .
But then there are the bubble gum favorites that you will only hear on CD's on the clearance rack for $2.99 such as, Billy Don't Be A Hero, The Night Chicago Died, Run Joey Run, I Think I More...

You can't have a disco party without Donna Summer or The Pointer Sisters!! Of course, that begs the question, why disco? Rock and Roll forever!!
 |  |
Yay Mike! Let's not forget that in this part of the world anyway Punk and New Wave started in the 70s!!
 |  |
Nurn - right you are! I have to confess, one of my favorite one-hit wonders was 'Life In A Northern Town'. Forgot who did that.
 |  |
Mike from Dayton, Life In A Northern Town was by Dream Academy according to Google. As to your question 'Why Disco' maybe because I can still listen to classic rock on one of many stations in my area, but no disco (and rightly so).

For many of us disco is that era of freedom More...
