I will not dive into this berating of Fiona. It's purely a question of semantics. We use yard and lawn interchangeably and we probably shouldn't.

We berate because we love, Heidi!

Oh, Judy.... Thanks for warning her about the smack. It'll be a lot harder to deliver that smack to Fiona now.

2:30 Hi to all. Nice to see you around Ian, how is that wonderful country of Smiles treating you?

Thought for the Day:

CynB - thank you for your kind comment yesterday. Would you like some mango and lime yogurt ice-cream? I've just made a big tub of it. I've also just dug five foot of a border in my back 'garden', the results being two thorns stuck in my left hand thumb and some obnoxious weeds in a big pile on the lawn. Cee Cee where are you? Can you bring Jake back to me, I need a massage please...

Heidi - Loosely it means there is a choice between the fixed paths bourgeois society tries to lure you to by promising an easy stroll and the harder-won freedom of the unpaved beach.

The UK's meanings of yard -
1) farmyard, concreted area in the middle of the farm dwellings.
2) Prison yard, concreted area where prisoners are allowed to walk.
3) Building yard, where you can buy building materials.
4)Yard something to do with a mast I think?
5) Yard near to sidings More...

We do have Scotland Yard too...It is not based in Scotland and it is not a yard...

I wonder how many posts in a yard?...five?...

André: thanks for the explanations of today's TFTD and "yard"!

When in the East Coast, we visited "Harvard Yard", where Harvard University was established...and Hubby likes imbibing on beers at a local restaurant called "The Yard House".

...and could you please send a scoop (or 2) of that mango and lime yogurt ice cream? Sounds yummy!

I'll take a scoop of it, too, as long as it's heading this way.

Hmm, seems like some of us are a little feisty today, interesting how the different interpretations of words can set things off, I will add another one that is (I think) just appropriate to us USA'ers, why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway? Well I know sometimes I go so slow on our More...

Thanks for the translation. In Kentucky we have a city named Versailles. It's pronounced ver-sales here.

Andre, your thought for the day brings to mind the phrase, 'I for one will take the road less traveled'...thanks for the inspiration!

Aimee: That line you used about parking in a driveway and driving on a parkway came from the late, great George Carlin!! Just in case folks here didn't know!!

Heidi: Like the seashell avatar, very nice!

I wonder if the "The Yard House" refers to a 'yard of ale' served in a VERY tall glass?

Thanks Suzanne, oh dear, I hope no one thought I was trying to take credit for it, I'm not that clever, trust me!

Shiela, during St. Patrick's Day celebration in my town they sell plastic countainers that hold foots of (usually green) beer, with straps so they can hang from your neck, too convenient if you ask me, and you can tell by the people that you usually see wearing them, besides beer is not my drink of choice - I'm more of a cocktail kind of girl!

I am rather frazzled today. Just found out the temp is supposed to hit 100 on Saturday (the day of our big outdoor anniversary party. I'm trying to negotiate an air-conditioned indoor space, but no one is calling me back. Waaaaaah!

Hi Debby! It does look handpainted. Nicely done!
It is of an American Goldfinch for sure. (Looks similar to one of Catherine McClung's paintings. She's an artist from our area and paints for Lennox china.)

No! No! No! Don't 'rain' on Jane's parade!
Or in this case, bake them to death!
Is that tears or sweat on that little guy???
Maybe Cathy & CanukGreg can try sending you a blast of cool air from Canada?

I did have intentions of CPing my way to 22 - and then this work place thingy got busy, and I had to turn my attentions elsewhere.
