Karen, I hope your mum-in-law will be ok. I'll keep her in my prayers. Please keep us posted.

Can you imagine crossing the plains and seeing that ahead on your journey west. Beautiful - but scary if you were a pioneer with a family in tow.

Shosho - how are Santa Annas - as bad as a couple of weeks ago?

We have some considerate men on this site. I want to thank Neil who originaly posted the Dog & Cat creation story, who let me know where it was, Mr. C, who reposted it yesterday & Jerry who sent me an email of the story with photos. The last is a true cat. Thank you to these gentlemen.

They depart from Canberra this week to the Gold Coast for retirement.

But with their daughter in Canberra, we'll still see them reasonably often.

everybody & to Karen! Sounds like you have stretched out the celebrating to THREE days by starting yesterday with your nice dinner out & tour of the pretty lights. Sorry about your MIL. Hope she improves & maybe won't need surgery?

Linda, how's your friend doing after his surgery?
18/Dec/11 12:52 AM

Good Maen everyone!
Annie missed her spot.
I just LOVE Plum's holiday avatar!!!

Love Alberta and BC - thanks for the photo, Wendy.
Eve - I often think of how difficult that travel must have been, too.

Thanks to those who sent good wishes my friend's way. He is doing better than expected. As a lifelong diabetic, his condition was very fragile, and the prognosis was "iffy". Defying all odds, he has been moved out of ICU and was sitting up and eating less than 24 hours after his surgery. We are all feeling optimistic; and, of course, his family is ecstatic.

This is why wagon trains west traveled with guides. There was no way that they could cross ranges like that without someone who knew where the passes were.

Although there is a different cat being wrapped on youtube too.

Linda - great news!
Heidi - a different collie avatar. My favorite pup is Katy (love the white blaze on her forehead!). You must like her, too since you have decided to keep her!
CP - good night, sweet dreams.

Katy is the prettiest, by show standards, but Sandy is my devoted companion already. Both are here for keeps.

I thought, it was time to change to my Christmas Avatar - the only one I had on file was of Tipper. This is the first Christmas without her since '95 and my second drive down to So. Cal without her - such a great traveling companion.

1. My first job was working in an orange juice factory,
but I got canned. Couldn't concentrate.

2. Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack,
but just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the ax.

3. After that, I tried being a tailor,
but wasn't suited for it - More...

Other day I posted in my gallery pics of "IF PIGS COULD FLY" - the rendering & how the 2012 float looked a month before the parade. More pics at LCFTRA.org

Got my schedule & assignments for decorating week yesterday. I'm feeling my age more every year, so am taking jobs that don't strain the back - front desk, docent, floatique, etc. I started at floatique in 1981 (the third float - before just supported as a Charter Member). As a kid - worked as a "Petal Pusher" on the Lutheran Layman's League float.
18/Dec/11 1:49 AM
 |  |

The first time Tipper was down at float site - she was all of 11 weeks old - she must have been down there with me for about a dozen different floats - since 95. (Last year - and a few other years I had Christmas here and participated vicariously - some of you will remember.)
