I just have a question. Does solving a sudoku puzzle ever require guessing or trial-and-error methods? I can solve most puzzles in our daily paper using naked or hidden pairs, triples or quads, but once I get past that I'm stuck. So, what I do is just pick a possible answer from a cell that has More...

Kathy are they interchangable? I would think that since there are two of them they would each have their own individuality and purpose in life. Right?

Nita, there are some really smart people who grapple with the puzzles on the tough page who mention following leads as you suggested. I for one think it is a perfectly fine technique. What ever works, I say. Ok well maybe the "show solution" button is a bit of a cheat.

OK now I am really going to present my face to the sun. Perhaps make some appologies to my poor negelected rose bushes.

Jill, I don't know if they are interchangeable.
Anyone out there have an answer to é and è?

Thank you Mr. Google!

The most familiar language that uses both marks is French. It changes the pronunciation of a vowel. The ACUTE (é) is used only on an e, and makes it sound more like "ay" and less like the usual "eh", and usually marks a stressed syllable. More...

2:17, all. I won't be on the site tomorrow morning as I'll be running the Canberra Marathon (wish me luck - I think I'll need it!) When I'm in a fit state to get back on the computer I'll let you all know how I did.

Mymare keep pampering yourself, it really should be a daily thing.

Chris, good luck in your marathon, see you after the race.

Lots of chatter today. We're off to ride the Puffing Billy and then a BBQ at Gail's. Should be great fun.

I'm sorry I can't come out to play when it is dark. My mum told me not to talk to strangers and strangeress's...not that I listened anyway. I can't play cards so that rules out the Knaves and the Queens...not sure about the Kings is there a CXLV?

I watched a wonderful programme tonight about Thelonius Monk, some of his background and his remarkable music, troubled though he was. I had never heard of him before tonight. Very interesting indeed. I'm going to listen to some tracks on youtube if I can find some.

I've only read the first page so far but I'm with GMo - it's definitely Tower Bridge so named because of its proximity to the Tower of London.

Good Morning All.
Keith know you will have a wongerful day at Gail's, wish I could be there too.
Chris, good luck with the Canberra Marathon tomorrow, know you will do your best.

Watched Rachel Getting Married last night. Excellent and Anne Hathaway was a revelation. My husband, who works with lots of addicts in his line of work, said the characters -- the addict, co-dependent parent, angry sib -- were written spot on.

It certainly looks like Tower Bridge London, but there is something strange about the surrounds. I cannot place the trees by the riverside, nor the topography.

Thought for the day:

Have you ever wondered if the one dollar bills in your wallet were ever in a strippers's butt crack?
If not, you're wondering now. Have a nice day. ;-)

Yes Heidi. I think we have. I would say there are no groups of conifers like that by the Thames bank. The trees near the thames are solitary London planes. Maybe I am wrong but the overall proportion of the bridge does not seem right (too high for its length) to be the London Tower bridge. Looks an odd photo to me.
