Well Rosie
I start with a red one,

Leaving just one Red one for my very last

I think we call them M&M's
 |  |
SUSAN: If you hit 'Home' anytime while in the archives, it will return you to to the present day. Sounds like, 'Back to the Future!'
 |  |
The candy 'Smarties'? I recall they are: sweet-tart flavor, roughly small disk-like shapes (a little smaller than reg. M&Ms), dull finish (maybe like Pixies powder pressed into roughly a disk shape), pastel colored. They come in a cellophane sleeve, twisted at the ends.
Around here - popular with the kids when they were under 10. They make they way into birthday party goodie bags a lot.

Lovely flower!

Smarties are not chocolate.
 |  |
smarties are so chocolate. and they melt in your hand.
 |  |
Are they typical American 'flavors'? I think like popsicles, they flavors are: red, yellow, purple, etc.
A running American joke, at least in some circles in the Northeast. ...as purple is in no way a grape flavor, orange is nothing like oranges, etc.etc.
But then again, does purple More...
 |  |
Smarties are like M&Ms - but the dye that they use comes off in your hand really easily! I eat the brown ones first - they are boring!
 |  |
Information:
Smarties were introduced in 1937 and are still the most popular sweet and one of Nestlé’s major confectionary brands. Smarties are manufactured in York, England.

Smarties are brightly colored, sugar coated sweets with a milk chocolate center. The mix comprises eight colors - More...

Smarties?
Also do you su ck them very slowly or crunch them very fast?
John from MI
similar to M& M's but they tend to melt in your hands .... so you just have to eat them all up quickly before they melt!
So if you do not have smarties in USA or any other country then think of them as M & M's.
 |  |
MRF - Heinz tried to sell a green tomato sauce (ketchup) in Australia - but I don't think they sell it anymore - it wasn't too popular!!
 |  |
then what?
silly me was thinking its also a choccy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and Mrf you havent said ur preference of color?
 |  |
Do smarties have flavours, or are they just multi-coulored iced chocolate?
 |  |
Ok goodnight all
have fun with the smarties and I will catch up on all the wonderful comments in the morning.
 |  |
Oh - interesting.
My apologies. I stand correctly. Either I am thinking of another candy, or New England Smarties are not the same as Smarties sold elsewhere.
Are your chocolate Smarties real chocolate like the insides of M&Ms? or candy coated like M&Ms? I gather that if they do melt in More...
 |  |
'Iced'? Does that mean what we might call 'candy coated'? A hard shiny shell?

G'nite Rosemary.
 |  |
Mrf: Since I thought the Smarties were the ones you described, I checked the Nestle website and learned that Smarties are actually chocolate filled. I know there are Sweetarts (I love all of them), but I think there is another candy, too, with similar taste.

Off to do a little research like Chalkboard.
If Chalkboard knows them are chocolate, I don;'t know what I was thinking of.
I recall Sweetarts are similar flavor (more intense?), but.......
I don't want to speak too soon now without all my facts on an issue of such importance!
 |  |
And of course I meant 'corrected', not 'correctly', which..well, you get it.
 |  |
SUSAN, MEL, LOZA,COL,ROSEMARY
Hey if I go to all that trouble I might as well shave!! You all would have to come and help with the ribbons and bows and what ever. Boy that would confuse the bees that are always after me wouldn't it.
M&M's I eat them all at once, how can you eat one at a More...
