Still have the morning overcast but by noon, we should have sunny sky with the temperature just hitting 80ºF/26.6øC. Then we'll go back to the 70'sF/21-26ºC. Still waiting for the hot summer bit and it's almost September!

About September, October, we get the Santa Anas winds which careens between mountain ranges from the desert. A lot to mayhem is blamed on the Santa Anas winds. Winds whip up to 110 mph/177 kph and temperatures rise to 110ºF/43C.

Author Raymond Chandler described it best as 'There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek More...

Chandler's description of our Santa Ana winds is pretty accurate, Sharon, although a wee bit exaggerated! I guzzle ... water ... ... and I am more of a pillow-over-the-face type of murderer than a carving knife wielder! My greatest fear of the Santa Anas is the fire danger they pose.

Speaking of sports, I heard that yesterday's US vs. Australia basketball game had the largest crowd ever for basketball in Australia. But there were complaints about the seating, some of which was at a lower level than the raised game floor! What idiot thought that would work?

1:18. That caption reminded me of a joke I heard the other day - 'To the thief who stole my sneakers and fluoro vest—you can run but you can't hide!' 😂

Good morning everyone.

Four old retired guys are walking down a street in Hobart. They turned a corner and
see a sign that says, Old Timer's Bar - all drinks 10 cents!

They look at each other, then go in, thinking this is too good to be true.

The old bartender says in a voice that carries across the More...

Good one Peter, But I do resent the implication that mainlanders are pinch pennies. After all we do subsidise the Tasmanian economy in many ways. Perhaps they do that because Tasmania has so many Senate seats!!!!!!
